PRE-SERVICE – MEN’S CHOIR “Borning Cry”, Flutist: Jane Quaintance “The King of Love and Grace” “Go In The Grace of the Lord”

GREETINGS and ANNOUNCEMENTS P: Christ has risen! C: He has risen indeed! Alleluia! (*) OPENING PRAYER (*) PROCESSIONAL HYMN “With The Lord Begin Your Task” .......................... LSB 869 (*) THE INVOCATION, CONFESSION, ABSOLUTION P: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen. P: In that name, and with that faith—as dear children approaching a loving parent, as sinners

redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, as believers filled with the Holy Spirit—let us confess our sins to almighty God.

C: Let us seek forgiveness.

(Silence for meditation and self-examination) P: Most merciful God, C: we have been unworthy and disobedient children. We have ignored our Father’s

admonitions, disregarded our Savior’s instructions, grieved the Holy Spirit. We are not worthy to be called children of God. But we beg you—of your fatherly compassion, by your saving merits, at your inviting call—to have mercy on us and grant us your forgiveness.

P: God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him might not perish but have eternal life. To those who believe in Jesus Christ, the heavenly Father gives the Holy Spirit that they may be children of God. Rejoice in the Lord, your sins are forgiven—in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit

C: Amen. (Please be seated.)

HYMN “For All That You Have Done” Your grace will never be forgot Your mercy all my life Will be my soul's forever song My story and my light From mountaintop to valley low Through laughter and through tears Surely the goodness of my God Will follow all the years Chorus: For all that You have done for us For every battle won We'll raise a song to bless Your heart For all that You have done In all our failures and regrets You've always led us home Redemption's arm has raised us up Our triumph in the storm. Chorus In unity we'll stand as one As family we'll go Shoulder to shoulder hand in hand Into the great unknown. Chorus Chorus (10:40 am) CHERUB CHOIR “God, Bless My Family”

Bless the ones who care for me, guiding me so lovingly Helping me Your will to see. God bless my family.

Bless the ones who love me so, watching over me as I grow. They are gifts from You, I know. God bless my family.

My mother, father, others, too, are blessings from above. They lead me to praise and worship You, the Lord and holy God.

For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child. Friends on earth and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild; Lord of all, to Thee we raise this our hymn of grate-ful praise.

Thank You, God, for those who pray, helping me to know Your way, Teaching me to trust and obey. God bless my family.

God bless my fam-i-ly. My family.

ANGELIC CHIMES “Festive Praise”

SCRIPTURE READING L: The First Reading for the Fifth Sunday of Easter is from Acts chapter six. 1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. 3 Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." 5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. 6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. 7 So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith. Acts 6:1-7 NIV L: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. L: The Second Reading 1 Peter chapter two. 2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 4 As you come to him, the living Stone —rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone," 8 and, "A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall." They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 1 Peter 2:2-10 NIV

L: This is the Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. (Please stand.) (*) RESPONSE (LSB 526, sts. 1&4) You are the way; through You alone Can we the Father find; In You, O Christ, has God revealed His heart and will and mind. You are the way, the truth, the life; Grant us that way to know, That truth to keep, that life to win whose joys eternal flow. (*) HOLY GOSPEL L: The Holy Gospel according to St. John, the tenth chapter. C: Glory to You, O Lord. 1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going." 5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." 8 Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us." 9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. John 14:1-14 NIV L: This is the Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to You, O Christ. (*) RESPONSE VERSE (LSB 941, st.1)

We praise You and acknowledge You, O God, to be the Lord, The Father everlasting, by all the earth adored. To You all angel powers cry aloud, the heavens sing, The cherubim and seraphim their praises to You bring; “O holy, holy, holy Lord God of Sabboth;

STEPHEN MINISTRY

CONFIDENTIALITY It’s a cornerstone of Stephen Ministry, and a good guide for all of us to live by. When someone tells you something private, resist the temptation to pass it along. Keep it confidential. In the event you really believe someone else needs to know, encourage the person who told you to tell that person, or get his or her permission to pass it along. You’ll feel better in the long run – and you’ll have earned the trust of a friend. For more information about Stephen Ministry or how you can have a Stephen Minister walk with you during a life challenge, please call Pastor Adam Koglin, (507) 289-5147.

YOUTH SOFTBALL First game is Wednesday, May 17, at Slatterly Park at 7 pm.

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH MONTH Christians have challenges that can weigh on emotional health like any other person. The Bible is full of expressions of depression. Key Messages: Being emotionally healthy doesn’t mean you

never go through rough times; we all experience stress, disappointments, and loss throughout life. The difference is that if you are emotionally well, you are able to cope when you encounter most emotional issues.

If you’re struggling with emotional well-being, know that you’re not alone.

Mental health problems are very common. According to the National alliance on Mental illness (NAMI) one in four adults experiences mental illness in a given year.

Emotional problems are not a sign of weakness. Don’t be embarrassed or ashamed to get help. Your physical well-being affects your emotional

well-being. Exercise releases endorphins that energize and lift your mood.

Alcohol, cigarettes, and other drugs many make you feel better temporarily but they have negative long-term effects.

Sunlight can lift your mood. Recognize any of the following symptoms? Changes in energy levels and sleep patterns. Noticeable restlessness or irritability. Loss of interest or pleasure in activities. Feeling sad, empty, hopeless, worthless or guilty. Frequent thoughts of death or suicide. Difficulties with concentration or decision

making. Changes in appetite, eating habits or weight. Self- screening tools for mental health are available with your physician or at Mental Health America (on line) or Visit NAMI.org

HOSPITAL VISITS Our Family of Believers is very important to us, and if you should find yourself, or hear of another family member, in the hospital or dealing with health issues, please let us know! Due to privacy regulations, we are not able to find out when you have been admitted to the hospital. Hospital visits are made Monday through Friday and upon discretion during the weekends. Please call the church office 289-5147, send an email, or text a staff member, we want to support you! SENIOR WILLS CLINIC Legal Assistance of Olmsted County, in partnership with Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Service, Elder Network, and the Rochester Public Library, will be hosting a “wills” clinic for seniors on Tuesday, June 6, from 1 to 6 pm at the Rochester Public Library. If you have questions or would like more information on this event, please feel free to contact Elder Network at 285-5272.

LIFE QUOTES “As the Church of God, it’s time we rightly extolled the vocation of motherhood, and it’s time we finally saw the resplendent majesty concealed therein. There is no greater vocation on earth for it is God’s chosen means to bring children into this world and, likewise through parents, to bring children into Christ’s kingdom of forgiveness through Holy Baptism.” Rev. Jonathan Conner, Zion Lutheran Church, Manning, Iowa – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life www.lutheransforlife.org

WELCOME VISITORS Whether looking for a church home or just here for the day, we are glad to have you as our guests. Please sign the red Friendship Registration pad in your pew and pick up a visitor packet in the Narthex. Remember that you are our guests; the offering is for our members who support the work of the church through their voluntary gifts.

WORSHIP SCHEDULE Saturday 5:30 pm Sunday 8 and 10:40 am HOLY COMMUNION is celebrated in each service the weekends of the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the

month. We invite those who acknowledge their sinfulness, recognize that Christ’s body and blood are truly present for our forgiveness, and are willing to give witness to the unity of their faith with this community, to join with us in receiving the sacrament. For those who for health or conscience reasons are not able to receive wine, please note that there is a cup of white grape juice in the middle of each tray. Gluten-free wafers are available in the middle of the bread tray for those with that allergy.

CHILDREN are always welcome at Redeemer. Parents should note that according to your needs and preferences, 1) children’s bulletins and “color bags” are available in the narthex; 2) our nursery is staffed each Sunday morning during the 9:20 am Education Hour and the 10:40 am service. The Nursery is located just off the Narthex -- look for our sign!

WORSHIP TAPES are available in the rack by the elevator. Listen and bring it back or contribute one dollar if you wish to keep the tape.

TRANSPORTATION is available each Sunday morning. Please call the church office (289-5147) by Noon on Thursday.

SPECIAL NEEDS Large print bulletins and personal hearing devices are available in the Narthex from an Usher or at the Welcome Center.
