    1. FOREWORD The WCED promotes and applies the principles of employment equity and is committed to effective and efficient service. Please submit your application by 16:00 on Friday, 7 May 2010. 2. APPLICATIONS 2.1.1 A separate application form [Z 83] must be properly completed, signed, dated and

    submitted for each post applied for. This form is available at all schools, district offices, WCEDs website and also at the Walk-in Centre of the Head Office of the WCED. The application forms are attached to this vacancy list. Applications that are accompanied by a completed DPE 1, A 2 and/or any other application form will not be considered.

    2.1.2 Applicants must ensure that their PERSAL numbers, where possible, are

    indicated on their application forms or CVs. Applications without a completed application form (Z 83) will not be considered.

    2.2 Applicants are advised to include the following documents with each application: 2.2.1 A Curriculum Vitae (CV) containing, inter alia, a complete chronological record of

    teacher training and teaching and other experience, as well as the names and telephone numbers of at least three persons willing to act as referees.

    2.2.2 Certified copies of diploma and degree certificates, SACE certificate (or proof of

    registration), valid drivers licence and identity document (ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.)

    2.3 Applicants must ensure that all the information provided on the application form is

    correct, especially the post number (e.g. A 9), which appears in the first left-hand column in the attached advertisement table of this vacancy list. THE WCED DOES NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR POST NUMBERS THAT HAVE BEEN OMITTED OR FILLED IN INCORRECTLY

    ON THE APPLICATION FORM. SUCH APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

    3. REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT 3.1 Citizenship 3.1.1 Only South African citizens may be considered for appointment.

  • 3.1.2 No persons who have renounced their South African citizenship may apply for these

    posts. 3.2 Experience

    Teaching experience, as well as other appropriate experience, is taken into account for appointment to vacancies on Post Level 3 and higher.

    At least two years of the prescribed period of experience must have been spent

    within the borders of South Africa or at an educational institution recognised by one of the previous education departments.

    3.3 Qualifications 3.3.1 In order to be eligible for appointment, all applicants must have at least a recognised

    three-year qualification (REQV 13), which must include appropriate training as a teacher.

    3.3.2 The evaluation of a teachers qualifications, so as to determine his or her suitability for

    the post and the relative education qualification value (REQV) of his or her qualifications, will be done in accordance with the measures contained in the document Evaluation of Qualifications for Employment in Education.

    Please note: Foreign qualifications are subject to evaluation by the national Department of Education in Pretoria.

    3.4 SACE registration (or proof of registration) 3.4.1 Registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE) is compulsory. 3.4.2 Where possible, a certified copy of an applicant's SACE registration certificate should

    be submitted. 3.4.3 Where the applicant is not in possession of a certified copy of a SACE

    certificate, one of the following will be accepted: (a) Acknowledgement of receipt from SACE indicating that the applicant applied for

    his or her SACE certificate prior

    (b) Any other proof obtained from SACE that the applicant is registered;

    to the closing date for applications for posts advertised in this vacancy list;

    (c) A certified copy of the applicants latest salary slip on which is indicated a salary deduction for SACE registration and the applicants SACE registration number.

    4. GENERAL INFORMATION N.B. Please read the following carefully before applying

    .

    Appointments are subject to a security clearance and an applicants suitability check, which includes qualifications, previous employment, criminal records, credit verification and reference verification.

    An applicant may be subjected to a competence assessment before a final decision is

    made about the filling of a post. The Department will communicate only with applicants who have been short-listed. Short-listed applicants will be expected to be available for interviews at a date, time and

    place determined by the WCED.

  • Short-listed applicants will be required to complete a work assignment. Successful applicants will be appointed for a probationary period of 12 months. The WCED reserves the right not to make an appointment to any of the advertised posts. Personnel in excess on the same salary level will receive preference, if they meet the

    advertised post requirements. Applicants who apply for more than one post is requested to complete the attached

    preference form (RSC1) for each post applied for. The purpose of this preference list is to facilitate the appointment process and accommodate the preference of applicants as far as possible. The WCED is, however, not bound by the preference list and reserves the right to appoint an applicant to any post for which he or she has applied.

    . If an applicant receives no response to an application within 3 months of the closing date,

    they must accept that their application was unsuccessful. Applications will not be accepted after the closing time and date. It is the sole

    responsibility of the applicant to ensure that their applications reach the WCED by the closing time and date.

    Experience has shown that some applicants wait till the very last moment to send in their

    applications, with the expectation that the speed post and/or courier service will ensure that their applications are delivered on time to the WCED. This does not always happen. Applicants are therefore urged to make allowance for possible postal delays so as to ensure that their applications reach the WCED on time.

    In this regard, attention is also drawn to the fact that some applicants underpay postal tariffs when they post their applications. The WCED will not make good any shortfalls in postal tariffs and such applications will not be collected from the post office. Applicants must always ensure that stamps to the correct value are affixed to applications posted to the WCED.

    Under no circumstances must applications be handed to employees of the WCED or any other person, with the request that it be handed in at the Recruitment and Selection Centre. Furthermore postal applications must not be marked for the attention of any of the persons who deal with enquiries.
