We are learning how to write a recount about our weekend.We will be successful when we can:

- Write the title of our recount

- Use sentence starters – First, next, then, after and finally

- Use capital letters at the start of a sentence

- Use capital letters for the names of people and places

- Put a full stop at the end of each sentence.

Title and Date

When writing a recount, we need to include a title so the reader knows what we are writing about.

My title today is:

My Weekend

We also need to write the date we wrote our recount at the top of the page.

IntroductionWe also need to include an introduction in our recount.

The introduction tells the reader when and where the event took place and who was there.

My introduction is:

On the weekend, I baked cupcakes with my Mum and sister.

My events are:

First, we found a recipe for chocolate cupcakes on the

internet.

Then, we made the chocolate cupcakes and put them in

the oven to cook.

Next, my sister and I played until the cupcakes were

ready.

Finally, we at our cupcakes with a cup of chocolate milk.

Ending

At the end of our recounts, we write a feeling sentence. This sentence tells the ready how we felt about the events we wrote about.

My ending is:

We had so much fun making our cupcakes and they tasted delicious too!
