Educational Complex

Designed to strengthen and accelerate a student?s algebra readiness skills in the area of measurement, rational numbers, algebraic concepts, multiple representations of functions, coordinate graphing, probability, and statistics through the use WICOR strategies such as Cornell note-taking, interactive notebooks, writing and vocabulary activities, and team building projects. **Reserved for East Central ISD Enrolled Students.

East Central High School Baseball Field

This camp is designed to teach the fundamentals of baseball. Students attending the camp will have the opportunity to learn the basics of baseball. They will be coached by the baseball staff and learn the proper techniques and fundamentals of baseball.

Future Stars camp will be 2 hours of basketball skill work. Emphasis will be placed on improving campers? offensive skills and over all court presence. Shooting and dribbling will dominate most of the activities. Each day the kids will have a chance to scrimmage against other campers. The campers and coaches will have fun learning and teaching the game they love.

This camp is designed to give the freshman and Jr. High football player a head start to the football season. They will be broken into specific positions on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. They will be taught the basic concepts and fundamentals of their position. The idea is that when 2 a day?s starts the next week they will already be prepared.

Jr. Honeybees Camp (PK-9th Grades) $40 June 13th - 15th 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM

An opportunity for young dancers to dance with the Honeybees. Campers are split into 3 groups, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Each group will learn 5 dances. They also will play games and there will be arts and crafts for the beginner group. The last day of camp there will be a show-off performance for parents. After the show-off, special awards will be given. Also each dancer receives a Jr. Honeybee t-shirt and camp CD with all of the music from camp. 3 year olds accepted.

Campers will be working on Defensive & Offensive Skills.Defensive skills: Fielders will be divided by age and/or skill level. The defensive session will include: (1) drills to develop proper throwing mechanics, improve arm strength, accuracy and quick transfers, (2) drills to develop proper fielding mechanics, softer hands, footwork, and the ability to throw from all angles, and (3) drills to develop proper footwork around the bag for force plays, tag plays, and double plays.

Offensive skills: Hitters will be divided by age and/or skill level. The hitting session will include: (1) an overview of hitting mechanics, (2) drills to develop bat speed and strength, and (3) base running and sliding mechanics.

Choice A: My Fun House Project ** - In the project you will design your own house using given dimensions and draw its blueprint. You will then decide how to decorate your house and how much the cost will be.  This project will help with skills necessary to master Category 2 and 3 of the STAAR including - determine dimensions for given perimeter, determine the area of rectangles, and to add and multiply decimals.

Choice B: Monstrous Math** - In this project you will create your own Fraction Monster out of various pieces of fraction circles. You will then calculate the size of your monster and compare it with other Fraction Monsters created by your classmates. This project will help with skills necessary to master Category 2 of the STAAR including - represent and solve addition and subtraction of fractions with unequal denominators, represent and solve multiplication of a whole number and a fraction, and add and subtract positive rational numbers fluently.

Choice C: Par ty Planner** - In this project you are a party planner and you will choose a party to plan for a new client. You will create an invitation, pick a theme, and choose decorations. You will then make a shopping list, pick the items needed for the party from a store circular and determine the cost per person at the party. The challenge is that you only have a $200 budget! This project will help with skills necessary to master Category 2 and 4 of the STAAR including - represent and solve multi-step problems, balance a simple budget, divide whole numbers and decimals.

Choice D: Cereal Math** - In this project you work for a cereal company that is marketing a new cereal. You will decide the volume of the cereal box, design the graphic on the front of the cereal box, and create a cartoon advertising the new product. This project will help with skills necessary to master Category 3 of the STAAR.

Choice C: Making the Band** - In this project you are starting a new band and need to make a CD to sell at gigs. You will need to make 2 equations to represent the cost of making your CDs. One needs to be proportionate and one needs to be non-proportionate. You will then decide which recording cost is the better deal. This camp will be broken into 3 parts every day. 30 minutes will be spent in the weight room lifting core lifts, another 30 minutes will be spent doing core strengthening and auxiliary lifts and 1 hour will be conditioning. Two days a week there will be a focus on building speed and form running and the other 2 days will be spent doing plyometric and agility drills. Every day will end with a 5 minute character talk.

A swimsuit is required for all swimmers. Girls must wear a one piece suit.

The East Central Junior Tennis Camp is a day program specifically designed to cover the entire spectrum of tennis development, from detailed instruction to supervised play. Our Tennis Camp focuses on the athletic, emotional, psychological, technical, tactical and the social behavioral development of the athlete.

1. I grant permission for ECISD?s assumption of parental privilege in all EMERGENCY medical, dental and general health situations.

2. I understand ECISD accepts no responsibility for medical liability and I will be billed for any medical expenses incurred.

3. I grant the ECISD personnel permission to take pictures of my child for use in program advertisement and/or website. (no names will be included)

4. I understand that my child as a participant of SUMMER@ECISD must abide by the ECISD Student Code of Conduct.

5. I am aware that if my child violates the ECISD Student Code of Conduct, I will be notified immediately and the violation may result in my child being removed from SUMMER@ECISD (with no refund when applicable) and may face additional consequences as outlined in the ECISD Student Code of Conduct which includes the rules and guidelines of the East Central ISD Transportation Department.

6. I am aware of ECISD?s Acceptable Use Policies and agree to abide by its provisions. In consideration for the privilege of my child using the District's electronic communications system, and in consideration for having the access to the public networks, I hereby release the District, its operators and any institutions with which they are affiliated from any and all claims and damages of any nature arising from my child's use of, or inability to use the system, including without limitation, the type of damage identified in the District's policy.

7. I will not allow my child to bring electronic devices, valuable or sentimental items or other like items that could distract one from the learning environment. I understand ECISD is not responsible for lost items.

8. I will not leave my PK-5th grade child unattended at the drop off or pick up designated bus stops.
