3rd Annual Drumstick Duathlon and Sweet Potato 5K

Thanksgiving morning once

again provided a great venue at

Freedom Park for the 3rd

Drumstick Duathlon and

Sweet Potato 5K. Members,

friends and supporters gath-

ered to run or run and bike

just for the fun of it. Though

many members were running

in other races throughout the

area, dozens came to enjoy

this family event. Thanks Rob-

ert for heading it up and to all

those who helped make it hap-

pen!

New Timing System Debuts

R O G U E R E C O R D

The weather is not an issue!

Bagel Runs continue on Saturday

mornings, as popular as ever with

walker's, 3-4 mile runners and

others going out a bit earlier than

8 am to get in extra distance. A

great time for all with food after-

wards. See the schedule on page

1, our website or Facebook page.

Tuesday/Wednesday morning

runs continue to happen each

week for early birds. Again check

on the Facebook page for details

and other pick-up runs during the

week.

Trail runs are occurring at vari-

ous times during the week and

week-ends, including mornings

and evenings. Check the Face-

book page .

Monday Night Runs Monday

night runs from Liberty Exchange

meet at 6:30 in front of Subway. All

paces welcome at this get-together.

Run from Subway to Century High

School and back.

Training Sessions Tony Griner

and Sherry Stick have been hold-

ing work-outs Mondays to help

people improve their running

technique. All levels welcome.

Check the Facebook page .

Distance and Ultra runs includ-

ed the Army 10 Miler, MGM 50K

Trail Run, Patapsco Valley 50K

and others. Tristan Epler did his

1st 50K at the MGM! Kudos!

5K+ runs by members include the ever-popular

Celtic Solstice (ERR had at least 3 age group win-

ners), the Run Through the Grapevine, several

Thanksgiving runs and many others locally!

Holiday Lights Run was once again a hit.

Thanks Jamie and Steve for hosting this event

especially under your special circumstances.

Ironman Robert Muhl did his 1st Ironman at Iron-

man Maryland in Cambridge on Oct 7th. Congrats!

Hey, been wondering what’s with

the new erector set you’ve seen

at races these past few months?

Or noticed that the race award

results have been happening a bit

quicker after the race? No, it is

not a new runners performance-

enhancing device, it is a timers

performance-enhancing device.

We have been gaining experi-

ence with our new timing system!

Called Jaguar, it is a RFID-based

system. The bibs we now use

have a chip in them. The system

reads the chip multiple times as a

runner passes near and records

the time. It continuously com-

piles results as data is received.

After some early learning pains

while gaining experience, the tim-

ing team under Jamie’s tenacious

lead has had 100% reads over the

last few races. And been able to

quickly recover from the typical

anomalies that occur with timing

so that accurate results were

available soon after the race.

Though there were timing back-

ups used at the races, the team

did not have to resort to them.

See it next at the Shiver Shuffle!

Keep up with ERR week-day/end runs on Facebook
