Riverview is a community that prides itself on wellness. At the Town of Riverview, ‘wellness’ captures the four pillars of healthy living — part of the New Brunswick Wellness Movement. This guide is full of programs and activities designed to help you and your family make healthy living choices all summer. To further our commitment to healthy living, Town Council accepted the feasibility study for a new community wellness centre earlier this year. The report gives direction to Council and staff on the planning and design work needed in order to make this new facility a reality. This project is seven to 10 years away, however

in municipal planning, that’s not very long. We are in the process of updating the five- and 10-year capital plans which will include the impact of projects such as the Wellness Centre. I encourage citizens to read the report on our website and share their thoughts on what could be a key part of a healthy and sustainable future for Riverview.

Sincerely,

Ann Seamans,Mayor of Riverview

It is my pleasure to once again welcome you to view another amazing Summer Events and Activity Guide. The many cultural and special events, children’s activities and sport programs taking place throughout Riverview are designed to suit all interests, ages and skill levels; from the very young to the mature adult. As the weather gets warmer and you venture out to enjoy our natural beauty by walking Riverfront Park, biking the paved trail on Gunningsville Boulevard, cooling off at the splash pad, planting veggies in the Community Garden, or sharing a picnic lunch with friends and family during a concert at Caseley

Park, we encourage you to always take a moment to ensure you and your family are prepared to have a fun and safe experience.

We are your partners in the ongoing and lifelong endeavor of active and healthy living. Keep active, have fun and enjoy our great outdoors!

LEADERSDiscovery

Inclusion in recreation is essential for meeting the leisure needs of all individuals. We have carefully selected 4 Discovery Leaders to work closely with our participants & their families to integrate children

with exceptionalities into our camp and playground programming. It is our goal to provide an enriching recreation experience in the least restrictive environment possible.

• If your child requires personal support for daily living activities, we welcome personal support workers.

• Benefits of participation include: increased socialization and community awareness, development of physical literacy, increased emotional well-being and self-esteem.

• A completed information form and an introductory meeting with the staff are required prior to being assigned a Discovery Leader. Discovery Staff are available to meet with parents/guardians beginning on Tuesday, June 9. Children are encouraged to attend as well to get to know the staff. Please contact the Play Supervisor at 387-2070 to set up an appointment or for more information.

• This program is offered on a first come, first serve basis.

Do the loop with us on Saturday, June 6 or do it on your own. Start at the Fundy Chocolate River Station, go across the Gunningsville Bridge, through the Moncton Riverfront Trail, across the Causeway and back to the Fundy Chocolate River Station. Approximately 6.25 km, enjoy awesome views of our town. You might see an eagle!

The Dobson Trail is a beautiful footpath running all the way to Fundy National Park. Within the first two kilometres, there is signage about the flora, fauna and wildlife you can see along the trail. A great escape after a hard day’s work! (Don’t forget to bring bug spray.)

Caseley Park is our town’s summer outdoor activity hub. Enjoy Wednesday night concerts featuring a variety of talented musicians. Friday nights, we host movies in the park, complete with popcorn. All free of charge.

Check out the Tidal Bore schedule, grab a cool beverage or an ice cream and relax on the Fundy Chocolate River Station’s back deck awaiting the tidal bore.
