THE L IVE /WORK COMPLEX
arch 201
a mixed-use building north of downtown houston, the live/work complex houses residential and studio spaces for twelve artists, including galleries, a the-atre, and a library for public use. by examining the transition between houston city grids and intermixing public and private programs, the complex becomes a field that produces intersections on both human and urban scales.

BRACKE T ING VOID HOUSE
arch 102
the bracketing void house features a central void that dictates the structure’s organization, program, and circulation. the void, integral to the system of the house, contains stairwells, hides service areas from public view, and guides movement. “bracketing” floor plates enclose the void with alternating interior and exterior spaces.
