Welcome

Nigel MillsEntrepreneurs’ Forum Chairman

Welcome to our Global Entrepreneurship Week conference, for what I’m sure will be an inspirational day in an inspirational space.

Global Entrepreneurship Week started life in the UK, as Enterprise Week in 2008, and has since grown into a truly global campaign taking place simultaneously in over 140 countries. It is now the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship.

Each year, it plays a critical role in encouraging entrepreneurs to start up and grow their businesses, inspiring people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them to maximise their potential.

From large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, Global Entrepreneurship Week connects entrepreneurs to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors, introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities; which is why our conference was awarded with their highly coveted ‘High Impact Status’ in 2013.

This year, our conference opens amid a tangible air of optimism among North East entrepreneurs.

The evidence from our entrepreneurial business tracker survey - a snapshot of how member businesses are performing and forecast to expand - backs up the positive feeling with real reports of business growth.

Fortune Favours the Brave is about getting under the skin of those who take chances in order to succeed. It’s about finding out what happens when you do, because it’s only when you step out of your comfort zone or are faced with a seemingly ‘make or break’ moment that you are really tested.

As entrepreneurs we are all here with a common goal, and if it’s your first Forum conference, you’ve already made a great decision just by taking time out of your business to be here.

We are confident you will leave having made valuable new contacts, learned from the experience of others and feeling fresh motivation as you return to your business.

We encourage you to meet, listen, share and enjoy, together. Because together we are stronger.

Enjoy the day!
