Stephanie and Brian Watson represent the heart of the design team, and the strength to implement it. They are also the owners of Carolina Home and Garden, a 4.7-acre nursery that offers unique style and a knowledgeable staff to help you with all your gardening goals. Brian and Stephanie designed and built the Watson House on Emerald Isle, and in their 17 years as residents have adapted and molded the French Country garden estate into a premier DreamMakers Wedding Estate. Given Watson House’s success as a luxury wedding location, Stephanie and Brian decided to purchase a second venue, The Palo Alto Plantation. The Palo Alto will be available for the first time in Spring 2013. The Palo Alto Plantation sits on three acres of historic Civil War history. Built in 1821, it holds the reputation of one of Onslow County’s oldest historic homes. Owned

by only three families since its construction, it continues to maintain the Greek Revival charm that was so fashionable in its time.

The Palo Alto Plantation was built in 1821 by David Sanders. The home was a prosperous plantation until the outbreak of the Civil War. Lucy Green wrote in The Commonwealth of Onslow, “At the outbreak of the Civil War, one of the showplaces of the area was Palo Alto Plantation.” Sadly, during a raid by Federal troops the Palo Alto was overrun. The estate and barns were plundered, leaving only the Palo Alto and a detached kitchen with living quarters above.

Sometime after Sanders’ death Daniel L. Russell, governor of north Carolina, came into possession of the Palo Alto Plantation. The Russell lineage can still

be found today throughout much of Carteret County.

In 1979, The Palo Alto Plantation was placed on the national Register of Historic Places.

This estate offers you a setting in one of the oldest homes in Onslow County. The most recent owners, Brian and Stephanie Watson, have chosen to restore it as closely as possible to its original charm, including the original heart pine wood floors and the restoration of all eight working fireplaces.

The Palo Alto will carry you and your guests away to a simpler and more elegant era, draped in Southern history and classic Greek Revival charm.

The Octagon House, constructed in 1855, is another historic Cedar Point home that has survived the Civil War, and it still boasts much of its original Greek Revival

charm. The 60-acre waterfront estate is located less than five miles from the Crystal Coast beaches and offers a very private wedding venue with a gated entrance.

This secluded waterfront estate lends itself to unlimited possibilities—especially if you are looking for a unique and historical home with magnificent water views. The Octagon House is located on land that was originally granted by king George III to Thomas Lee in 1713. In 1765, William Hill purchased what later became known as Cedar Point Plantation. ninety years later, Colonel Hill’s son Edward built the Octagon House on the old family property. It is said that the estate was built by shipwrights before the Civil War. The Octagon House was donated to the Jones Masonic Campus in 1999 by John S. Jones, the last of

its owners, and restored to much of its original 1850s character.

The Octagon House is easily recognized by its eight-sided floor plan. The octagonal shape lent itself to various embellishments of style, from Greek Revival to Georgian … and even Moorish. The property features stately 250-year-old trees, water views overlooking Swansboro and a dock with a gazebo.

Any size event can be held at the Octagon House, from an intimate affair inside and on the surrounding porches, to a large gathering of 500 guests.

The Watson House Estate nestles on eight acres of coastal waterfront charm. Located on the shores of Bogue Sound, this french Country-style estate features elaborately

designed gardens and fountains throughout the property, a perfect waterfront ceremony location and a luxurious, lighted slate design patio complete with an outdoor fireplace.
