Most ball bearing cages are made of cold rolled steel sheet. For some bearing types and special applications, cages are made of glass fibre reinforced polyamide 6.6 or phenolic resin, or machined brass. The material of bearing housings is gray or ductile cast iron, housings can also be made of pressed steel, stainless steel, or engineered plastics for special purposes.
