After three years, Hardwell returned to Jakarta for his I Am Hardwell – United We Are tour. Thousands of ravers came to Carnival Beach in Ancol, Jakarta to watch him perform. Hardwell didn’t come alone, Kill The Buzz accompanied him as his opening act.

A long queue was already formed by nine p.m. when the gates finally opened. True to form, the merchandise booth was immediately packed with ravers who wanted to buy a token from the I Am Hardwell – United We Are tour in Jakarta.

Around eleven p.m., Kill The Buzz kicked off the night. Through Electro tracks, Kill The Buzz built the crowd’s anticipation. Slowly, the people filled the area in front of the stage. Then the audience started shouting out Hardwell’s name. There was an air of great anticipation as we couldn’t wait for him to emerge. Finally, the LED screen showed the opening visuals of I Am Hardwell. The crowd called out his name over and over until he finally appeared.

“United We Are” was the first track Hardwell dropped. For three hours, the crowd sang together when Harwell performed “Apollo”, “Never Say Goodbye”, “Arcadia” and “Young Again”. He also played his collaboration tracks such as “Colors” (col-

laborated with Tiesto) and “Off The Hook” (collaborated with Armin Van Buuren).

Hardwell also remixed some old tracks from Eiffel 65 called “Blue (Da Ba Dee)”. It was pure energy. The crowd sang along with him when he played a track from Linkin Park called “In The End”. As if that wasn’t enough, he also dropped his remix of “A Sky Full Of Stars” from Coldplay. The crowd took out their smartphones and turned on their flashlights, which made the venue appear to be a sea of stars.

The show went on for a full three hours. For the last fifteen minutes of his perfor-mance, Hardwell played Hardstyle tracks and made the crowd dance at 150 BPM. The tracks Hardwell chose represented his style of music and highlighted his ex-perimentation with new sounds. To the delight of everyone there, Hardwell wore an Indonesian sports jersey with his name written on the back, a gift from one of his fans during the meet and greet.

The show was complemented with 3D animation visuals that gave Harwell’s per-formance a futuristic vibe. The fireworks display and the pyro were also amazing. Hardwell’s performance ended, but the party wasn’t over.

The after party continued at Colosseum Club where Kill The Buzz performed once again. The crowd still full of energy, especially when Hardwell made a brief appear-ance to address his fans. The party only ended when the sun rose.

Spotlight Artist of the Month

Rey VercosaNhan Tran You just arrived from Brazil a few months ago. How has your experience been so far here in the USA?

Rey Vercosa So far it has been an incredible experience for me. I have been here for two months now and I have connect-ed with many people. I am the type of person who likes to help others. All my life I have tried to help people, like for example ‘Cancer Kids’. My music is really not an ego thing, it is about spreading a message of music and love.

Nhan Tran The music in Brazil is diverse and full of energy. What are some of the similarities and some of the differences that you see now that you are playing here in the States?

Rey Vercosa I think all music and every culture has its own uniqueness. I like to study and learn the different styles and different fusions of sound that all comes together in a certain way. In Brazil, my background is Samba and songwriting. All my life I have tried to be a student of music. Like when I was studying bass I was listening to James Brown. When I was learning drums, I was listening to jazz. I learned from different people and how those people played and perfected their music to form their own, unique sound. That is how I created my own style of music. So, if I want to bring a little Samba into the mix, I know enough to blend it in without disrespecting the style. Learning is essential in all that you do in life. Take knowledge and create something new.

Nhan Tran How did it all start for you?

Rey Vercosa I was 14 years old when I began to take music seriously. I studied Afro-Brazilian Percussion, which has some of the most powerful processions on the planet. At 17, I produced a reggae track that was signed by Warner Music. That started my musical career. I am always learning and growing and looking for new ways to learn. Now I am part of a music group that is always evolving and growing. The team is cool, and everyone respects each other, which for me is very important. The Brandenburgs are also very respectful and they have incredi-ble core values that are important to me.

Nhan Tran Your performance at Sutra Night Club with the Brandenburgs was fire. When you came up on stage and started performing the crowd went nuts. What was the experience like and tell us a little about how it went down especially when you brought out your tube like microphone to play with. It was certainly not expected and the people loved it. Where did that come from?

Rey Vercosa I’m glad they enjoyed it. The instrument is actually one of the oldest instruments in the world. It came from the aborigines in Australia. The original instruments are like 20 lbs. so I had to develop and come up with one of my own. I made one of my own with a plastic tube and some wireless microphones and some lasers. People like and enjoy the sound and the new high tech visuals that stream from it.

Nhan Tran What’s next for Rey Vercosa?

Rey Vercosa I arrived in the USA only two months ago and in 45 days I produced over 60 original tracks, which was pretty insane. I stayed locked away from the outside world nearly all this time to get all of the productions out and ready. This year I have produced close to 900 tracks and with the additional tracks that I developed here in the States, I am coming close to 1000 which is pretty impressive I think.

Every year I come up with two different albums and that is the next step for me. I’m am not really good at the marketing side of things, but I have others that help me on that end. So from a music standpoint, I want to put together a band album that is going to be filled with my music compositions mixing in electronic music and singers and collaborations. It would be great to have a jazzy blend with synthesizers and future influenc-es. I am also going to put together Ibiza essential records compilations for the Ibiza Summer 2016 album. Originally there were 50 tracks selected to go on the album. Out of those 50 tracks, six of the tracks are ones that I created. I was really excited and happy about that. For sure 2016 is going to be amazing. I want to re-lease over 200 tracks this year and I am going to be extremely busy getting those out.

Nhan TranWhat can people expect when they listen to your music for the first time?

Rey Vercosa Zero expectations, zero frustrations. Let yourself go with the flow, and feel it in your heart. Submit yourself to the music and let yourself enjoy something new. Close your eyes and open your arms and permit yourself to have a pleasant experience. When you speak, you’re just reproducing what you know. Permit yourself to listen to new things and enjoy new things. Then you will give into the power of the music.

Rey Vercosa is well known as one of the most talented live performers in the electronic music scene. He interweaves his vast knowledge of world music with modern musical equipment to create an entirely unique and breathtaking performance. At a very young age, David discovered the sounds he enjoyed the most and now he has finally made it to where he wants to be. There is simply no stopping David Gravell. Recently nominated for being the best breakthrough DJ, his sound is like nothing we have ever heard. David is signed with one of the biggest la-bels in the industry, Armada Music. His management team at Phillip Driessen Management is the best in the business.

David’s great re-mix “Bigger than Love” as well as collaborations with other Armada art-ists, such as his latest “Stay Awake”, are propelling David to new musical heights.Raver Magazine was fortunate enough to sit down with David after his show at Create Night Club. He gave our Sr. Reporter, Rob Roy, the inside scoop on everything that he’s been working on and what he has in store for his listening audience.

David, so happy to have you back in LA! Thank you for sitting down with me for Raver Mag-azine. The last time we spoke we were right down the street at Avalon nightclub, and now we are here at Create nightclub. You just got off the stage. How was your set?David Gravell - The set was fantastic! I could see the audience and their faces. They were enjoying themselves to my music and that makes me love my job even more. I love the LA crowd, I love the city, I love everything about it. I was able to visit the beach and stand alongside the Hollywood sign. I never realized how big LA actually was. I’m grateful for my fans here in LA and I like to show them love back by putting out my best.

You have been putting out a lot of remixes and EP’s. Tell us a little bit about the process that takes place to bring those tracks to life.

David Gravell

Well, I keep up to date with all the music that is coming out and the artists who are putting it together. If I feel that my sound and their sound might create a good track I’ll reach out to them. “Man on the Run” by Dash Berlin made me very nervous at first, especially when I had to ask for the vocals and the music to that track, but when I got the OK from Dash and Armada Management I was ready to go and make great music. My current remix is by ilan Bluestone, “Bigger than Love”. I love that track so much that I wanted to remix it and thankfully it has had a lot of success.

Rob Roy

How has 2016 been treating you? Your social media pictures suggest that all is well in your world.

David Gravell

Ha ha. I guess you can say that I am very blessed. I am very happy to be where I am at in my life right now. Regardless of the jetlag and some of the things you can’t prevent that comes with touring on a global scale, everything is going very well. I’m happy to be able to travel the world and play on some of the world’s biggest stages alongside my idols that I looked up to growing up.

I have a lot of things planned for 2016 and 2017. More remixes and productions will be coming out shortly. The David Gravell sounds are coming back heavy with lots of banging trance that we can all enjoy. I’ve been playing all over the States and my sites are set

playing on the In-somniac Dream-stage stage. Be-sides that I have been in the studio getting ready for the summer and making some pretty heavy tracks that I know the listening au-dience wants to hear.

What’s the sto-ry behind your latest track, “Stay Awake”?

David Gravell

I’m a big fan of scary movies. As a child, I watched those movies a lot. The thrill of the film is what got me going, (I know I’m weird like that). I was looking for a good vocal hook to add to that track and I was watching Nightmare on Elm Street. The rest is history.

Rob Roy

Congratulations on the two nom inations you received at the IDMA awards for Best-Break through DJ and Best Trance DJ. How do you feel about that?

David Gravell

First off, I want to thank everyone who made it possible for me to be nominated next to some of the greatest artists in electronic music. I feel extremely proud of myself know-ing all the hard work I put in the studio, countless hours of making music and the ups and the downs that come with being a studio producer. Knowing that I’m mentioned with the greats in the music scene makes all those countless hours in the studio worth it. All the people at Armada Music, always giving me support with my music, were also a blessing for me.

The Newest Member of the Coldharbour Team

Becoming a well-known Producer/DJ is not an easy thing to do. Many find it easy to put together sounds they think work well together, but in reality they don’t. Reaching the apex - playing at one of the world’s top nightclubs or playing on the main stage at some of the world’s biggest festivals - doesn’t happen overnight. It takes years and years of crafting your sound for your audience and some good fortune plus count-less hours of listening to different sounds and melodies. It requires marketing and networking and the right connections to put you on the EDM media map.

Dave Neven has overcome all these hurdles. The Chicago native has signed with (SMG) Schulz Music Group. Dave is the also the most recent artist member to be added to the Coldharbour Recordings roster. We caught up with Dave Neven in Hol-lywood, California for Coldharbour night at the world famous Avalon nightclub. We talked about what he’s got in store for us with his massive dark sounds.

I’ve been very excited for this show at Avalon for a while now. I fi-nally got to experience what it’s like to DJ at such an iconic venue. I’ve performed at a couple of other Coldharbour Nights/Days, but I was really looking forward to this one since I live in LA now. I had the opportunity to play a Deep Progressive set and set the mood for the night and it went really well. I played some new, catchy tunes and a few clas-sics that people would recognize. Towards the end of my set, I played the Kyau & Albert Remix of Cressida - 6 am, and it was awesome seeing people come straight to the dance floor. I knew that track would catch some attention.

I used to DJ back in Chicago almost every week-end as an opener and I always loved the sound, vibe, and energy that Coldhar-bour brings. It really caught my atten-tion and made me want to produce this dark, Progressive Trance. I am excited to be a part of a team with Fisherman & Hawkins, Nifra, Rex Mundi, Grube & Hovsepian, and Mr. Pit. They all bring fire with their productions. They all have their own style, but it stays very close to that well-known “Coldharbour sound”. The support from Markus is incredible! He’s basically like a mentor/coach for all of us. He helps a lot with ideas, collaborations, support and so on... I also feel like Coldharbour has some of the most loyal, die-hard fans. They follow Coldharbour music like its religion. It’s awe-some to make music that people are pas-sionate about.

I feel like we all have this particular sound so we all support each other’s music and play it in sets and radio shows. At first, I was a little shy with the group because they are all artists that I look up to, but now that I have had the chance to hang with them all a couple of times, I feel like I fit right in with the team. They have really welcomed me with open arms. Now that I feel like I am part of the family. Like any family, we joke around a lot and give each other shit, but it’s all just fun and games. When it comes down to the music, we all mean business!

I used to play the original in Chicago all the time. I absolutely love the original. Something about those vocals by Ana gets me every time. I would definitely say its one of my favorite vocal tracks by Markus, ever. When Markus asked me to remix it, I was not expecting it. I had a feeling like “how ironic” because its one of my favor-ites. Ha ha! I was very anxious to get it started, so as soon as they sent me the remix pack, I immediately got to work. I ended up doing about four or five different takes on the remix. Some of them had the original melody implemented and I did a couple versions with an entirely new melody, the only thing used was the acapella. I actu-ally started to like one of the versions with the new alternate melody, but the vocals weren’t fitting right. I stripped the vocals and decided to make it an original because the track came out amazing and I used nothing from the remix pack. I sent that over to Tim at Coldharbour and he sends me a message back saying, “This is exactly how

we want the remix to be, I even think it’s in the same key.” I sent a message back say-ing “Well, funny you say that because...” I spent a little bit of time re-structuring the song to fit the vocals and voilà! I sent it back to them and Markus loved it. I also recently did a chill, Progressive 126bpm version of “Nothing Without Me”. I really wanted something fresh to play for this show, so I decided to use the vocals and make a new version since I played a deeper Prog set. Again, I made an entirely new melo-dy for this release. I tried to make it as emotional as possi-ble since the vocals are very emotional.

Who is Dave 1HYHQ"�:KHUH�GLG�you come IURP"�+RZ�GLG�\RX�JHW�the “Trance EXJµ"I was born and raised in a city about 30 minutes outside of Chica-go. When I was 15, I was liv-ing in Florida working at a roller rink. The DJ used to always play euro and d&b. I fell in love with this music. I thought it was so awesome to be the DJ playing the music. In 2001, I ended up buying my first set of belt drive turntables, the Numark TT-1700’s and the Numark Bluedog Mixer. I would spend hours and hours a day in my bedroom teaching myself how to blend songs. My Mom would always be yelling at me “Turn it down!” Haha! I then moved back to a suburb of Chicago to live with my dad when I was 16. I started going to some of the teen clubs and then eventually becoming a promoter and then DJ. At about 19 or 20 years old, I started producing and teaching myself about music theory. This quickly took over my life. I then started Djing at some of the clubs/bars in the city where I eventually found my home at Vision Nightclub. Vision was known for bringing the best Trance Producers/DJs in the Midwest. I was a resident DJ there for about 3 years until it changed names to Castle and then resident under the Castle name for about 2 years. Vision/Castle is really where I found my passion and love for Trance.

Most of it I cannot really talk about at this point. I have a new original that is currently being played, but it has not been an-nounced yet. I recently did a collaboration with an amazing producer, but again, I can’t really talk about much at this point. Also, I have been working on some remix-

es. I have a remix I recently did for Addictive Sounds, which is a new label releasing some quality music. The remix is of Gordey Tsukanov “Prediction” which is being released April 18th. It has already seen some great support from Markus. I also just recent-ly finished a remix of Rank 1 - Airwave. This has always been a favorite of mine, and I decided to do a remix for fun. It is getting a lot of great feedback so I’m excited to see what happens with that. On top of all my productions, I also have my radio show on Afterhours FM, which airs the first Thursday of every month. It has been getting some good feedback so I will soon move it to two times a month.

I have been working very hard to reach this point in my career and it’s a relief that I have finally achieved that. I now feel even more inspired knowing that they have faith in my music. Again, I can’t say much about what music is com-ing, but just know that there is some new stuff on the way.

I wasn’t there in person, but that first time I saw the video I was speechless. It’s definitely one of those moments that I will always remember because it was my first big track being played at that scale, and at such an amazing event! Actually, I have never been to an event with thousands of people and witnessed it being played live. I have been to some

world-renowned clubs and saw it being played and it’s an awesome feeling seeing the crowd getting that into it. I specifically remember Markus playing at one of his OTC sets at Avalon and I was walking to the bathroom and heard it come on. I went into the crowd with some friends and experienced it from right up front in the crowd, and it was something special.

Sweet Debut of DGTL LVE%\�0DGGL�3HUWLZL

DGTL LVE (read: Digital Love) presented by Love & Other Things along with The Livescape Group has arrived in Jakarta. Love & Other Things is known for creating events with a House Music influence. In April 2016, DGTL LVE announced its line-up; Disclosure and Tchami, supported by local heroes Bima G and Dipha Barus. Just from the line-up, we predicted that this festival would be different from any other festival in Indonesia.

On May 4th, 2016, the crowd filled Ecovention in Ancol Jakarta. Bima G. opened the night with a massive set of Hip Hop and R&B tracks. After Bima G, Dipha Barus hit the decks.Dipha transitioned from Hip Hop and R&B tracks to more House tracks. He showcased his skills by playing various genres in his performance, such as Hip Hop, R&B and even Trap. By the end of his performance, Dipha played his song called “Nothing Can Stop Us” along with his duet partner Kalluna.

After Dipha Barus had concluded his set, everybody was excited to see Tchami. Future House tracks were dropped from the very start of his performance. He also experimented with various electronic sounds and dappled with a little bit of Garage House influence. Disclosure closed the night. This was the second time that Howard and Guy Lawrence had visited Jakarta. Disclosure dropped their hits and entertained the crowd until the event was over.

For a debut, DGTL LVE succeeded into differentiating itself from other music festivals. Why? The organizers brought a unique concept to the table. While other festivals choose Trance or Electro DJs as their line-up, DGTL LVE chose Progressive House DJs to perform. The venue arrangement reminded us of the underground events that were popular in Jakarta in the early 2000s. We hope next DGTL LVE come back will be just as impressive with stunning visuals and an equally impressive killer line-up.

Imagine Music Festival Announces Enormous New Venue

for Third Annual Event in AtlantaBy Zach Leete

After much speculation, Imagine Music Festival, a three-day camping and

electronic dance music festival in Atlanta, Georgia, has announced that the

Atlanta Motor Speedway will be the venue for its third annual event on Au-

gust 26th through 28th, 2016.

Doubling in attendance each year, rapid growth made it necessary for

Imagine to move from its former home in the Historic Fourth Ward Park to

the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Located on 887 acres and just 15 miles south of

the airport, the landmark Atlanta Motor Speedway site includes capacity for

over 100,000 festival-goers per day, grass fields for the festival’s new camping

The food, the vibe, the culture was far from the norm; it was much more than that, it felt like home. From start to finish the event/festival was a journey through time and space. The past and present collided to unite in the vision of Dr. Robert Moog. People from all stages in their own musical journey came to be part of an unforgettable experience. That experience did not fall short of perfection.

Starting out the day, it was a little overwhelming to take in everything around me. The Moogfest application helped orientate me to the different workshops and events taking place. For those without a smartphone, maps were available in various locations. Volun-teers graciously directed the thousands of festivalgoers to their desired venues.

My plan was simple - see everything and experience everything. With my smartphone in one hand and trusty map in the other, I explored downtown Durham, North Carolina for the first time. Almost immediately I realized that the workshops were the place to be. It was also the best time to take in the history of Dr. Robert Moog and to learn about every-thing he worked diligently to create.

I started off at the Carolina Theatre where I watched Odesza record a live pod-cast. After that, I explored all that Moogfest had to offer. It didn’t take long to meet some new friends, so I put away my map and smartphone and decided just to chill and follow the vibe to wherever it would take me. I checked out the Full Frame Theater, Pinhook, The Armory, and then the Durham Arts Council PSI Theater. Each venue had its own theme, its own vibe, to absorb. I wanted to stay at each place for the entire day, but there was so much to see I pressed forward. As I explored, I met new people who, like Dr. Robert Moog, had also invented new ways to perfect the sound of music.

The day slipped into night and the party and energy led me to the Motorco Music Hall and the Motorco Park Main Stage. As I walked, I took in the architecture of downtown Durham. I thought about the many people who had walked before me down these roads, looked at these old fine buildings, some newly resurrect-ed from disrepair. I wondered how far the world of dance music will take us and if it would constantly change and improve because of pioneers like Dr. Moog.

It wasn’t long after my walk began that I started to hear the bass and sounds of music. I knew then that I was home.

As I turned a corner, the crowd appeared. The lines to get into the main stage quickly started to stack up. The rain clouds also slowly crept in. It made no difference; nothing was going to stop the energy.

Moogfest is and will always be a place where both the engineer and the musician

can come together to create a bond. It is a place where old friends can meet new friends and share in the one connec-tion that has united human-ity since the dawn of time, our love of music.

ABOUT MOOGFESTMoogfest is a tribute to Dr. Robert Moog and the profound influence his inventions have had on how we hear the world. Over the last sixty years, Bob Moog and Moog Music have pioneered the analog

synthesizer and other technology tools for artists. This exchange between engineer and musician is celebrated with a unique festival format where

the creative process is understood as collab-oration among many people, across time and space, in commerce and culture.
