Sunday, November 26, 1922, Howard Carter, Discovers the Tomb of Tutankhamun. King Tut was an insignificant ruler who died young and was

soon forgotten by his people. His lack of renown likely helped protect his tomb from grave robbers, which was finally opened in 1922 by Howard Carter in the

most important archeological event of the 20th century.
