It is a member of the genus Rhizopus, which contains fungi with columnar hemispherical aerial sporangia anchored to the substrate by rhizoids. It can also cause infection if not taken care of properly. It may cause allergetic reactions. Rhizopus nigricans is a spore that floats around in air. It is a known producer of allergens.
