Craft programs report that they have a calming effect
and enhance social skills. Handiwork with yarn helps
arthritic fingers remain more dexterous. Some people
find that craftwork helps them control their weight…
when hands are holding needles and hooks there’s less
snacking.
Join the Knot just for Knitters
Knitting & Crocheting Group
This new activity
for seniors will be
on every Tuesday at 2:30pm. Instructor has hooks, yarn
& cotton for the first class. During the first class, seniors
will make potholders to learn basics and get to know
each other. Each session will build on the last or what
individuals know. Drop in to get started.
Range of Motion
This new exercise program will be held every Friday at 10:30am starting April 8th. Like the old saying goes “if you don’t use it, you'll lose it.” Regular exercise is the best way to improve your range of motion. Although you haven't been active in a long time you can start now to improve your mobility and strength. Even small movements, if done on a regular basis can improve your quality of life. We hope to see you Friday’s at 10:30am with Darcia Bobb.
Get some sweet relief from winter and hop into our spring bake sale.

Writing Group Each one of us has lived a different life from everyone else, each of us has had experi-ences no one else has had, and you might enjoy getting together with others who are also thinking back. To write, if not the entire story of your life, at least to put down some memorable experiences, to see how perhaps they add up to a whole.
Or you may have a totally different reason for writing something, maybe a different story, maybe a poem. Any-body up for a writing class?
See you Tuesdays at 10:00am with Lois Hayna.
Tai Chi
Tia-Chi is a doctor-recommended form of exercise/stretching. It has many health benefits: increases flexibility, lowers choles-terol, retards Alzheimer’s Disease and im-proves blood flow. Also, it improves focus, concentration, invigorates the brain, lowers blood sugar and helps eliminate stress.
Studies show people taking Tai-Chi reduce risk of falling by 48%.
Join us Wednesday mornings at 9:45am with Darcia Bobb.

Foot Clinic
Healthy feet can help you to keep doing what you enjoy doing. The human foot is a marvel of biomechanical engineering that most of us take for granted until the system fails or breaks down. The average person will walk the equiva-lent of twice around the world in a lifetime, which is a long time on your feet. Keep your feet in tip top shape, make an appointment with a licensed podiatrist on Thurs May 12.
Bring a photo ID and your insurance card. Appointments are required to see the doctor. Appointments are still available for Thurs May 12.
Call the Montrose Township Senior Center at 810-639-2822 for more information or to make an appointment with Elite Podiatry.

Did you know these 10 facts about diabetes?
*About one third of all people with diabetes do not know
they have the disease.
*Type 2 diabetes often does not have any symptoms.
*Only about five percent of all people with diabetes have

*If you are at risk, type 2 diabetes can be prevented with
moderate weight loss (10–15 pounds) and 30 minutes
of moderate physical activity (such as brisk walking)
each day.
*A meal plan for a person with diabetes isn’t very differ-
ent than that which is recommended for people with-
out diabetes.
*Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in working-age
adults.
*People with diabetes are twice as likely to develop heart
disease than someone without diabetes.
*Good control of diabetes significantly reduces the risk of
developing complications and prevents complications
from getting worse.
*Bariatric surgery can reduce the symptoms of diabetes in
obese people.
