We moved to Payson in 1981. By the mid 80’s our family acquired an old boarded up 1300 square foot house (originally built in 1926) at 202 West Main Street. We completely restored it and opened it as a home decor and gift store just before Christmas of 1986.

We then expanded and added a lunch only tea room featuring gourmet soup/salad sandwich and some of Diane’s now world famous pies. Between the store and the tea room we created a kind of Cracker Barrel style atmosphere…but with much niftier stuff. We were packed every day.

We eventually added on a large commercial kitchen to accommodate a need for upscale fine dining (steak & sea food) and our growing catering business. Life was good…and VERY busy.

During quite a few of these years I was also working at KMOG Radio back when their studios were out in Star Valley.

Over the years I emceed so many local events that I lost count. This photo is from 20 years ago when I was auctioning off Charlene Brown (a local police officer at the time) for charity. Yes Charlene and I go back quite a ways. Despite my best attempts to sell her off, she’s still here (grin)…and I’m glad.

After my first relief trip to Calcutta India and Dhaka Bangladesh I sensed a calling to help people in need. While that calling has taken me to over 30 countries, the call now is to once again make a difference right here at home. I believe I can and I am asking for your vote.
