The Holy Month of Ramadan

RAMADAAN - THE MONTH OF BLESSINGS RAMADAAN - THE MONTH OF BLESSINGS

The word RAMADAAN is derived from "ramdh' which means "burning of the feet from heat" This is because of the fast, which burns the sins of a Muslim into ashes.

Page 3: Ramadan (lite)

RAMADAAN has been given the name of blessed month because: in this month

the whole Qur'aan was sent down to the first sky from Lawhe Mahfooz. there is the night of Qadr, which is better than 1000 months. the thawaab of good deed is equal to the fardh of another month. the daily rizq (bread ) of Muslims is increased. the first ten days are of mercy, second ten days are of forgiveness and the last ten days are of being freed from Hell.

“O ye who believe, fasting has been prescribed upon

you as it was prescribed upon

those before you, so that ye may learn

self-restraint”.(Al-Quran:2:183)

Best to finish reading the whole Quran in this blessed month.

Page 5: Ramadan (lite)

Read the whole Qur'an at least once as the Prophet peace be upon him did.

Come for Umrah for those who can afford…

Spend most of your time at masjid

“O people! The month of Allah(swt) has come with His

mercies and blessings. This is the month that is

the best of all months. Its days are the best of

days, its nights are the best of nights, its hours are the best of hours”.

(Prophet Muhammad-saw)

Page 8: Ramadan (lite)

Pray that Allah gives us the strength and patience and to accept all our fasts in this holy month.

Perform a lot of prayers….

Page 9: Ramadan (lite)

Do a lot of tasbih…Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.)

said, that Allah Subhanahu-wa-Ta’ala said:

“All the deeds of man are

for himself,

except for fasting, which is

for Me and I shall

reward it MYSELF”.

Give thanks that a messenger was sent to guide mankind…

In Paradise there is a gate called al-Rayyaan, through which those who fast will enter, and no one will enter it except them; when they have entered, it will be locked, and no-one else will enter through it.

Fasting will intercede for a person on the Day of Judgement, and will say, “O Lord! I prevented him from his food and physical desires during the day, so let me intercede for him.”

• Whoever fasts one day for the sake of Allah, Allah will remove him a distance of seventy years from the Hell-fire.

• Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said, “Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and with the hope of reward, all his previous sins will be forgiven.”

Whoever fasts one day, seeking the pleasure of Allah, if that is the last day of his life, he will enter Paradise.

Verily, We have sent it (this Quran) down

in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree).

And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr

(Decree)is?

The night of Al-Qadr is better than a

thousand months.

The night of PowerTherein descend the angels and the Ruh [ Jibrael (Gabrial)]

by Allah’s Permission with all Decrees.

(All that night), there is Peace (and

Goodness from Allah to his believing slaves) until the

appearance of dawn.

(Surah 97)

What to do in the Night of Power

Narrated Aisha (r.a.a.), Allah’s messenger (s.a.w.) said, “Search for the night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan”.

Aysha (r.a.a.) narrated, “I asked Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.) what should I do if I find the night of Qadr”.

The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.) replied, “Pray to Allah: “Allhumma innaka afuwun tuhibbul-afwa fa'fu anni (O Allah you are Forgiving and love forgiveness so forgive me).”

Let’s recall

What a muslim should do in Ramadaan?

Page 14: Ramadan (lite)

Remember Ramadaan comes only once in a yearSo we should:1. Ask Allah to enable you to reach Ramadaan and to get the most out of it. 2. Intend to fast every day with Iman and pure intention seeking the reward from Allah alone. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "Whoever fasts in Ramadan with Iman and seeking reward (from Allah) his past sins will be forgiven". (Bukhari) 3. Read the whole Qur'an at least once as the Prophet peace be upon him did. 4. Have Suhoor as the Prophet peace be upon him said, "Have Suhoor because it is blessed".

Page 15: Ramadan (lite)

5. Make Dua before opening the fast. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "The fasting person has a supplication that is answered when he opens his fast".

6. Give Sadaqah and be good to people. The Prophet peace be upon him was the most generous of people and he was most generous in Ramadan.

7. The Prophet peace be upon him said "Whoever does not give up false statements (i.e. telling lies), and evil deeds, and speaking bad words to others, Allah is not in need of his (fasting) leaving his food and drink." [Bukhari]

8. Do not eat too much after Iftar.

9. Ask for forgiveness since this is the month Allah frees people from the fire.

Page 16: Ramadan (lite)

10. Pray At-Tarawih with Khushoo. If you pray in the Masjid complete the Salah with the Imam. If you pray at home prolong the Salah as long as you can. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "Whoever prays during Ramadan with Iman and seeking reward (from Allah) his past sins will be forgiven".11. Feed the poor and invite others for Iftar. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "Whoever gives Iftar to someone fasting he will have the same reward without decreasing the reward of the person fasting".12. Try harder the last ten nights especially the odd nights. The prophet would strive in Ramadan more than he would in any other month and more so in the last ten days.13. Say this Dua in the nights that Laitul-Qadr is likely to fall on: Allhumma innaka afuwun tuhibbul-afwa fa'fu anni (O Allah you are Forgiving and love forgiveness so forgive me).14. Ask Allah to accept all your good actions during this month.
