1. A signing Sheet is now included at the end of this document for recording the delivery of these briefings to your

staff.

WELCOME

Firstly, my apologies for the lateness of this bulleting briefing, many things have conspired against in getting this to you

on time but we have finally made it.

This month’s bulletin sees the actual Prohibition Notice placed on Network Rail regarding the Manual Handling of C143

Troughs. Having handled these myself I know firsthand how heavy and awkward they can be. They are so big I recall we

used to them ‘The Coffins!’

Some of you may be aware of some of the changes coming soon and the introduction of the Safe Work Leader as a

replacement for the Coss and Engineering Supervisor. I have seen a number of presentations from different areas of

Network Rail; unfortunately the actual method of how this is going to be implemented and how it will work are still quite

vague. We have placed one of the NR Presentations on to the website for you to download and review.

Have you heard anything about how this new process will be implemented? If so please do get in touch

CROSSRAIL WEST – Paddington to Stockley

This area has now been taken over by Carillion who are acting as the Principle Contractor. All works in this area are

subject to Mandatory changes to working practices on or near the line. Carillion have introduced a new safety critical

duty to be known as the Observer of Trains, and should be used for all works where a Site Warden is appointed. In

addition the normal rule of a 2.0m Separation distance when using Site Wardens has been increased to 2.5m.

If you need more information or a copy of the new Carillion Rail Operating Procedure please get in touch

KEEP SAFE AND FOLLOW THOSE ‘LIFE SAVING RULES’
