Wireless CCTV

Wireless CCTV (WCCTV) is a market leading, customer focussed provider of portable, re-deployable and fixed video and alarm solutions. WCCTV manufactures and delivers solutions that operate over multiple wireless mobile networks to meet every circumstance, including 4G, 3G, GPRS and satellite networks.

Wireless CCTV have designed a range of solutions to meet the requirements of the rail industry for issues such as depot security, asset protection, cable theft, level crossing misuse, census gathering and data collection, flood and landslip detection, trespassing, fatality prevention and swing bridge monitoring.

All WCCTV solutions have been designed to either reduce delay minutes, provide assistance with strategic decisions or minimise the costs of asset theft, vandalism or graffiti. WCCTV solutions are extremely cost-effective and can be fully integrated into a CCTV monitoring control room or used as a standalone solution.

WCCTV has offices in Rochdale and London, and an expanding international distribution network. In 2009, the company was granted the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and a Home Office

WCCTV Network Rail Type Approved Tower (PADS Number PA05/04778)

WCCTV has developed a truly autonomous surveillance solution that can be deployed virtually instantaneously, and can be left on-site without needing any intervention.

The system is the only CCTV tower with Network Rail Trackside approval. It provides a solution to many problems including level crossing misuse, census data gathering, asset and depot protection and cable theft.

The system can be powered by renewable energy or by fuel cell and battery technology to allow rapid deployment. A fuel cell can provide power for a WCCTV Tower for several weeks, and send an alarm notification when the power source is nearing depletion. Following notification, a replacement cartridge ensures continuity of power.

Audio broadcast functionality via a mounted PA system can also be added. This allows control room based supervisors to issue audio challenges and warnings. The system also contains motion detection sensors to ensure intruders are detected, and an alarm will also be triggered by the in-built shock sensors should the system be subject to any unnecessary force.

WCCTV Mobile Census Solution

WCCTV’s Mobile Census Solution is a truly portable, easy to install system specifically designed to provide accurate census data counting, classifications and reporting. The system utilises a thermal camera attached to a WCCTV Network Rail Type Approved Tower. The thermal camera counts relevant activities which are classified by WCCTV’s in-built analytics software.

Census reports can be distributed on a site-by-site, area or regional basis. The reports are supplied in user-friendly tabular format, with data classifications and supporting thermal images. This modular system can also generate alarms when a hazard or set behaviour type is identified.

The system can be provided with an additional infrared Heavy Duty PTZ camerato provide digital evidential quality images of any misuse, trespassing or criminal activity.

Remote Condition MonitoringWCCTV’s Remote Condition Monitoring Solution has been developed in response to the growing need for a cost-effective and reliable solution for monitoring remote sites and assets. The system provides a complete solution for detection, early-warning and monitoring of flooding, landslips and other hazardous conditions.

Users are able to monitor and receive video and alerts from remote locations through a customised and secure web-portal. Cameras operate over mobile networks including 4G, 3G or Wi-Fi where available, or satellite where not.

When deployed as a flood detection solution, changes in local water levels are indicated by wireless triggers which send an alert to an end-user with video footage of site conditions. The system relays real-time information 24 hours a day (or as directed by the customer) to a centralised location, and can send alerts by email or text when a change is the environment is detected.

The secure web-portal can automatically take snapshot pictures on a daily basisfor reference as required, and live monitoring can be accessed at any time via smartphone, laptop, tablet or computer as authorised by the customer. The system requires little-to-no maintenance, and is powered by renewable energy sources (wind/solar).

Possible Applications

• Flood and landslip detection

• Monitoring of remote assets

• Bridge strikes

Case Study - Foxton Depot

Foxton railway station serves the village of Foxton, Cambridgeshire, providing connections between Cambridge and London’s King Cross Station.

During unmanned hours, the station depot was a target for trespassing, leaving the site at risk of vandalism, graffiti and theft. The cost impact and inconvenience of such actions had become a growing concern for Network Rail staff.

The depot managers required a cost-effective, round-the-clock method for site security to enable them to reduce illegal site entry and prevent criminal activity. Following a site survey, WCCTV installed its bespoke Site Dome solution to ensure the site was protected from trespassing, theft and vandalism.

WCCTV arranged for the provision of monitoring for the depot, with 24/7 monitoring provided as directed by the customer. To support the system, there are strategically placed sensors to detect activity, while the Dome itself is fitted with speakers to allow an audio challenge - a proven deterrent to almost all site intrusions.

In the first 12 months since installing the Site Dome the site has been free of any damage related to criminal activities.

“I have been impressed with the quality of service we have recieved from WCCTV.”

“Their equipment is fit for purpose and cost-effective, and their attention to detail and customer service is a huge benefit.”
