Newton’s Third LawYou’ve heard the saying, for every
action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
This comes from Newton’s Third Law of Motion:
Every action (force) has an equal and opposite re-action (force).
The person pushes against the van, and the van pushes back with the same magnitude, in the opposite direction. Both the person and the van are put in motion because of these forces.
