How Can You Continue to

Help Your Child Succeed

• Know your child’s academic commitments (Student

Planner, Assessment Planner).

• Maintain an active interest in study including an

awareness of your child’s study routine - 3 hours

‘study’ compared with 3 hours of STUDY

• Supervise internet access and IT usage - phone and

gaming.

• Exercise as much influence as is necessary. Be

careful not to assume responsibility.

• Look for ways to make your child’s life easier

during peak times – be wary of part-time work.

• Negotiate a responsible social schedule.

Uniform

Bags and Hats

• Bags will become compulsory for new

students in 2019

• They will be available from the

uniform supplier in March if students

wish to purchase

• A new male and female hat is

currently being designed and will be

available for purchase in the near

future

Active Uniform

• No active wear is to be worn with the day

uniform

• Only active wear items sold at the uniform

shop can be worn

• School cap must be worn with active wear

• Appropriate conventional exercise shoes –

no canvas shoes

Jewellery

• Plain studs or sleepers

• No more than 2 earrings in lower lobe only

• No other visible body piercing

• No visible necklace

• One simple and plain ring

Makeup

• Makeup should be minimal and natural in

appearance. No eye makeup is permitted.

Only clear nail polish is allowed.

Hair• Girls’ hair must be tied up with blue or

red Academy ribbon with logo for

formal occasions. If girls would like to

wear a ribbon, it must be the Academy

ribbon, worn over hair ties of a similar

colour.

• Boys’ hair is to be kept short and neat.

No long fringes, shaved undercuts or

shaved patterns.

• Absolutely NO COLOURED HAIR. Boys’

and girls’ hair must be of conservative

and non-attention seeking style.

• Boys also need to be clean shaven.

planner for each term to help your

family organise.

• Exam blocks occur in the final weeks

of every term (except for Y10 Term 1)

• Extensions are provided in

extenuating circumstances.

homelessness through providing food

• Students are able to get involved by:

– Volunteering to serve at the soup

kitchens on Saturdays

– Participate in clothing/food drives

Blue Dragon

Children’s Foundation• International charity supporting

disadvantaged youth in Vietnam. Blue Dragon

offers services such as shelter, legal support

and schooling for children including rescue

and crisis care for young people.

• Get involved:

– Participate in the Walk-a-thon – all funds

raised are donated to the charity

– International Service Trip to Vietnam in

June/July 2018

• VET course provides opportunities for students

to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to

be effective volunteers

• This is a nationally recognised certificate that is

delivered in partnership with Volunteering

Queensland and SAAVI

• At QASMT, we value service learning and

dedicating time to genuinely assist and support

the greater community, both at a local and

international level

• All students in Year 10 are required to complete

this certificate to prepare them for CAS

• It includes a full first aid certificate
