OPCC- POCTEFA 2011-2013
• StuShhhhhkjxsh ADAPTATION study 2011-2012 state of art
• Steering committee: • Project manager OPCC • Scientifics• Subnational govermments
• Conducted: BC3 (ES) ACTeon (F) and Fresh Thoughs (A)
• Framework: diagnosi
• Inventory and evaluation existing initiatives
• Pyrenees • European mountains ( Alps and Capathians)
• Raising awareness capacity building stakeholders
• Tool box for subnationals govermments to elaborate their Regional Adaptation Strategies
STUDY ON THE CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION IN THE PYRENEES
Conducted by
ACTeon, BC3 et Fresh Thoughts
Budget: EUR 100,000
Schedule: Aug 2011-Nov 2012
PHASE 1 Characteristics of the area and adaptation experiences in the Pyrenees (almost completed)
• Identify climate change issues and their impact on the Pyrenees to draw a picture of its vulnerabilities as a territory
• Survey and analysis of implemented adaptation measures and initiatives in the Pyrenees
PHASE 2 Lessons learned and experiences from European initiatives (started)
• Survey and analysis of adaptation measures and initiatives in other European contexts relevant to the Pyrenees (mountain areas and sectors)
• Develop relevant and practical reference documents for Pyrenean stakeholders to support the development of their adaptation to CC.
Objectives
Outputs to date
• Profile of the Pyrenees focusing on the exposition and vulnerabilities of key sectors (winter sports and tourism, etc.) Allows to identify critical needs and gaps in adaptation.
• « As climate changes, the Pyrenees adapt» (FR, ES and soon an EN version, 20pp): Publication for the general public
• Catalogue and analysis of adaptation measures in the Pyrenees (N=110) Provides a picture of the current level of involvement of stakeholders with adaptation to climate change
• Review of relevant existing adaptation initiatives in other European contexts Provide additional inspiration to develop a future best practice guide to formulate adaptation initiatives
Products (example - brochure)
Next steps to November 2012
• Complete catalogue of relevant EU initiatives
• Analysis of relevant EU initiatives• Develop best practice guide for
stakeholders• Finalize the framework of analysis (or
classification framework) of adaptation measures in the Pyrenees.
