Several times in the mid-1930’s, Russell Gregg climbed the town water tower off 21th Street and took photos. This scene is looking west along the W&OD Railroad tracks, which were removed beyond Purcellville in 1939.

In this scene, the camera is looking east along the W&OD with the mill that became Magnolia’s at the

Mill restaurant at the bottom center of the photo.

Looking west towards the mountains. Main Street is at the left running diagonally to

the upper right.

The 21st Street business section with White Palace near the top right and the old Purcellville National Bank on Main Street at the
