My Habitat

1: Pukeko are widespread throughout New Zealand.2: They live close to swamps,streams,ponds,estuaries And road side ditches.3: They like to live near water because they like to get There feet wet.4: they live were there is shelter and some space for them toSleep under or in.5: they live were there are grass so my feet can dry.

Eggs1: the egg is about 50mm up and 35 mm this way2: each of the eggs are buff coloured with brown blotches.3:the female chooses the best place to put her eggs inside and 4-6 eggs in one nest.4: the eggs hatch in 23-27 days

Food1: they eat shoots roots seeds vegetables crops and clover in paddocks.2: they also eat insects worms spiders small eels fish and frogs also duck eggs and very young birds3: they eat bread and plants.

flying1: they fly high and can cover great distances.2: they run for 20-30 seconds before flying into they air.3: they also flap their wings before flying too.4: when they fly they screech very loudly5: they land one soft grass and they start getting slower then they land.

Mating1: the male must impress the female before getting married 2: to kiss they bill nibbling3: when they are married ( mated ) the male gets the food and he puts it by the female's mouth and she tacks it and then feeds it to the baby's. 4: they jump on each others back when they mat.
