We planned our props and costume extensively, and each prop or part of costume was selected carefully. For example, we planned for the protagonist to be in a blank white t-shirt, perhaps with dirt stains on it, as a part of the narrative. Lots of the clothing we used was not bought, as we owned something similar to what was needed anyway. The antagonist was wearing black as black has connotations with evil, which is the image we wanted him to portray.
In terms of props, the syringe for example was taken from a local veterinarian surgery. It was not of medical use, but its purpose is originally to force feed animals through the mouth. We took it with permission as we thought it would be inappropriate and unsafe to use a medical syringe when a safe alternative can be used. Like the costume, lots of the props were owned by us, and not bought just for production.
