What is my favourite genre?

My favourite genre of film is the Action genre. The reason for this is because I love the fast pace that most action films include. What I also like about the action genre is the fact that the films often keep you on the edge of your seat.

What is a Promotional Package?

A Promotion Package is one of the marketing mix features or elements and is a term used frequently in marketing.

The marketing mix revolves around the four p’s which are: Price, product, place and promotion.

Promotion will refer to raising customer awareness of a product/ brand, which in turn will increase sales and creating brand loyalty.

Film reviews

Film reviews are a popular way for critics to assess a film's overall quality and determine whether or not they think the film is worth recommending to others.

Some of the more popular film review sites are Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, which seek to improve the usefulness of film reviews by compiling them and assigning a score to each in order to understand the general reception a film receives.

Posters

Posters are a key tool used to promote a film. Film studios often print several posters that differ in size and content for various domestic and international markets. They normally contain images with text.

This is the poster for The Bourne Ultimatum and i believe that it represents what the film is about quite well even though it is very simplistic. The fact that the character is the only thing in focus shows the audience that he is the main character in the film. The iconography of the gun shows that violence and fast paced action is expected to play a big role in the story line. The typography on the poster is in capital letters which suggests a state of urgency .

Magazines

Getting a film to be in a popular film review magazine is also great way to promote a film because this will also get the film a lot more attention.

This is the cover for empire magazine which also featured the film The Bourne Ultimatum. Alongside this film are other action based films which are Die hard 4 and Hot Fuzz. The cover helps with catering to those who are interested in the action genre. One way it does this is the fact that the "Empire" has bullet holes in it which symbolizes the type of action which is shown in these types of films. The other way this cover helps cater to those interested in the action genre is the typography. The typography is very edgy and bold which also gives of the energy of action taking place. Also the iconography of the weapons play a role in this as well.

The opening shot of the trailer is a close up shot which shows a male character walking in a crowd and he is the only one in focus. This suggest to the audience that he is the main character of the film. Also the characters facial expression shows seriousness which suggests that he may be on a mission.

A few moments on a close up shot shows a CCTV camera surveying the area which it then sights the main protagonist of the film. This suggests to us that the main character is a wanted man. As the camera sights the main protagonist, it shows a medium wide shot of him looking around. This suggests to the audience that he is aware of the fact that he is being watched and followed

This suggests to the viewers of the film that this film will not only take place in one country but in various parts of world. Evaluation

After completing research of the promotional package of the film "Bourne Ultimatum", it has given me an indication of what will be needed in the promotional package for it to be successful. It has also given me an idea of what I should incorporate into my own promotion package for my media project.
