Project Academic Coordinator: School Improvement Project About Pune City Connect: The Pune City Connect (PCC), a collective action initiative between Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune Corporates and various implementing NGOs, was formed under the leadership of the Pune Municipal Corporation, is working on creating significant improvements in four key areas, namely Quality Education, Livelihoods, Cleanliness & Digital Literacy across Pune. To start implementing this development agenda, particularly in our efforts to improve the quality of teaching and learning processes in the PMC run 300-school network, PCC Education Track started working with various stakeholders within and outside the government on two significant projects over the last 1.5 years – The Shikshak Sahyogi Dal Project & The School Improvement Project (Model School Project). PMC-PCC School Improvement Project: The School Improvement Project (SIP) functions with a network of 15 schools (13 Marathi medium and 2 Urdu medium) focusing on creating a holistic learning environment for students, through improved teaching learning practices and deeper community engagement. SIP Project schools function for longer hours to increase student engagement, have specialized staff to engage with communities and have extremely dedicated teachers who receive rigorous in-service coaching and mentoring so that they may implement better teaching learning practices in classrooms. Using these schools as a benchmark, the project hopes to create a vision for Student Achievement in schools that is inclusive of efforts of all stakeholders in the school system and becomes aspirational for other schools in the city to achieve. Over the next 5 years, these 15 schools can then be facilitated to mentor and coach other schools in their respective geographies to achieve the same vision. Over the next 10 years the aim of the project is to get all the regional medium schools in Pune to this vision of better learning and higher student attendance & enrollment. Position Summary: The School Improvement project is a high touch intervention, which involves 7 partners intervening in 5 programs in 13 Marathi and 2 Urdu Medium schools. The Project Academic Coordinator is a unique role in the Pune eco-system that is an amalgamation of an Assistant School Leader role and a Project Management Role. inputs on the ground, operationalizing project objectives, and coaching mentoringschoolstaff.TheroleoffersPACisunparalleledin-depthandscaleimmersionintotheregional medium schools and the chance to coach and mentors school staff acrossgradesandrolesintheschool.Success in this role will mean that the Project Academic Coordinator becomes anintegral part of the school staff, conducting Observation Debrief Cycles and coachingand mentoring conversations daily; that school systems and processes are setup tomaximizelearning;thaton-groundmonitoringandreportingprocessesandsystemsaresetupandmaintained;thatpartnerinputsarereinforcedonthegroundwithfollow-upsessionsandsampleimplementations.Successwillbemeasuredbyfeedbackfromkeystakeholders,projectmilestones,efficiencymetricsandinternalfeedbackmechanisms.Roles&Responsibilities:Responsibilitiesinclude,butarenotlimitedto:TeachingLearningPractices(50%)- Coach&Support thePMC teachers in the schoolby identifying theirdevelopment

learninginsidetheclassroomsofPMCmodelschools–thusbeingaccountabletothelearningoutcomesofthechildrenintheschool

- Workcloselywith thePMCofficials&Project teamtocapturemonitor theprojectgoalsdatawithregardtostudentattendance,enrolment&teachereffectiveness

- Create classroom observation and mentoring mechanisms to coach, train andmentortheteachers,alignedtothesupportofpartnerNGO’s
