program known as the Diabetes Prevention Program can decrease your risk of
developing diabetes by 50%!
For the first time this Spring, West Chester University will be offering the CDC-recognized Diabetes Prevention
Program. If you have been told that you have prediabetes or are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, this
program is for you! Participating in this program can help prevent or delay type 2 diabetes, lower your risk of
having a heart attack or stroke, improve your health overall, and help you feel more energetic.
This Diabetes Prevention Program is a FREE yearlong intervention divided into 16-weekly classes (both in person
and online) followed by 6 bi-monthly classes. It will follow a CDC-approved curriculum overseen by faculty and
students from the Nutrition and Exercise Science departments in the College of Health Sciences.
