That was in 1907 and 1908.

December DatesThe month of December provides us with several significant dates. Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on the 7th is increasingly more important as Americans that lived through the World War II years rapidly die off. Is American History no longer taught in our schools?

Winter officially commences on December 21. The first night of Hanukkah is the 24th.

Christmas occurs on Sunday the 25th, so please take note that the ELCO Christmas holiday begins at the close of business on Thursday the 22nd. It will end Tuesday the 27th at 8:00 a.m. CST. Our New Year holiday is Monday, January 2, 2017.

Producers will be notified with plenty of advance time about the closing of our 2016 books and the final day we will accept new business applications.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year from the ELCO staff.

Third Quarter ResultsWe began our final three months of 2016 on a very high note, as evidenced by the September 30 financial reports. The gross operating gain was more than 40% greater than that of 2015. The net operating gain was far and away the best ever. Largely, reduced general expenses and a reduction in annuity payouts provided most of the explanation. But improvements in just about every department and financial categories contributed to a wonderful gateway toward year end. Of greatest importance is the policyholder surplus total of $61,950,850 including the $4,500,000 asset adequacy voluntary additional reserve.
