THE RIGHT SPECIESince 2002, BCB’s strategy is concentrated on developing Aspen wood products which now represent 90% of our total production. This type of wood has replaced the softwoods (spruce, pine and fur) and it is now used by almost all our customers.

As a low density hardwood, the aspen has many advantages over common coniferous species that fits perfectly industrial requirements . Pricewise the aspen is not subject to the high fluctuation that caracterize the softwood commodities market or other construction related products. Qualitywise, low grades in aspen are by far superior and more consistant than softwood products.

Other interesting caracteristics of aspen are:

-Lightness (easy to handle)

-Fast growing (takes half the time than coniferous to regenerates and contributes to efficient forest conservation)

-Consistency of healthy fiber(no insects, small knots, less than 1% reject rate)

-Hypo-allergen and dust free (contributes to a safe working environment)

In the effort to control foreign pest and related desease proliferation, most countries in the world has adopted the HT program (ISPM-15) as a requirement to import/export wood material of all natures.

The program requires WPM producers to enroll with an inspection agency accredited by the government.

BCB is authorized under its Canadian accreditation to produce and stamp wood products and dunnage for export.
