HAIR CONDITIONER

INTRODUCTION: This project profile envisages production of Hair

Conditioner in a Small Scale Sector. Hair Conditioner is a water based

preparation used separately or in conjuction with other Hair Cosmetics such

as Hair Shampoo, Dyes, Rinses etc. to add conditioning value to the finished

hair i.e. ease of combing, detangling body shine, texture, split-end mending

prevention of static build up and manageability. It give the hair softness,

smoothness, attractive and healthy look.

MARKET POTENTIAL: The demand of hair care products is

increasing exponentially and present market is estimated more than Rs.1000

crores. Hair Conditioner is an important component as Hair care products,

chosen by the people. The ladies of urban areas specially are fascinated to

maintain their hair very attractive. The Executive class Gents belonging to

younger generation are also now a days are showing a deep concern for hair

care, because the conditioner enhances the hair look besides its functional

utility, is having a good demand every where. An excellent scope it seems

that both local as well international market.

BASIS AND PRESUMPTION

1. Working hour : Single shift of 8 hours, for 300 working days in a

year.

2. Capacity utilization : 60% during 1st year

75% in 2nd

3. Salary and wages : Monthly basis.

TECHNICAL ASPECTS

MANUFACTURING OUT LINE

The conditioner is prepared using variety of integrants upon the

property of end products, price and targeted market segment. In this project

a simple formulation has been suggested as follows:

a) Ceto-steryl Alcohol … 4-6%

b) Liquid Paraffin … 4-5%

c) Alovera Juice … 2-3%

d) GMS … 1%

e) Camphor … 0.2%

f) Methyl Paraben … 0.1%

g) Preservative … 0.5%

h) Herbal Extract … 1%

i) Perfume … 0.2%

j) Water to make … 100%

The preparation is made in 3 different phases, in Phase I the wax

is melted and oil based chemicals are mixed together. In phase II the water

based chemicals are added together and heated 40 - 500C. In phase III, both

preparation of Phase I & II along with emulsifier and perfume are mixed

together for 60 minutes at about 600C. The stock is then cooled and filled in

the bottles as specified.

QUALITY CONTROL AND STANDARDS:

The quality of Hair Conditioner is being maintained as per the

specification prescribed by Bureau of Indian Standards.

PRODUCTION CAPACITY PER ANNUM:

200 kgs of conditioners a day producing, 6,00,000 packs

containing 100 ml each for Rs.15/- valuing Rs.90,00,000/- per annum.

POLLUTION CONTROL:

The unit producing Hair Conditioner does not produce any toxic

pollutants.
