Cycling has certainly taken a battering in the past few months. Needless to say at elite level, cycling is now one of the cleanest sports in the world and the efforts to keep cheats out should be commended. We must all now look forward to a positive future and encourage everyone to get on a bike. Whether it’s simply to keep healthy, stay in touch on a social level with friends or test yourself on a competitive level. The actions and poor decisions of a few needn’t spoil it for the rest of us. Cycling will continue to play a large part in the community and enrich people’s lives.

Viva la bicicletta!!

Steve’s Cycling Tips

We’ve had great clients on all of our tours in 2012. Here are a few kind words we’ve

received from some of them.

"We had an absolutely marvelous time doing the Italian Alps during the Giro d'Italia 2012 with our hosts, Steve and Michelle providing the total package. The riding was superb with Steve attending tirelessly to all levels of rider and Michelle providing great back up. Our itinerary each day was flexible and accommodation well organised and of very high standard. We look forward to doing another trip." James and Maria, Giro d'Italia Tour 2012 "Thanks Steve And Michelle for a fantastic 10 days. Didn't have to worry about anything but riding my bike. The tips from Steve have made me a better rider. Hope to do it again soon." David, 2012 Summit to Sea Tour "Our TDF 2012 cycling trip was fantastic. Steve and Michelle tailor made a wonderful holiday combining fantastic riding with amazing hotels and outstanding personal service - there was no stone left unturned in terms of procyclingtours efforts to ensure everyone had a great experience. We can't wait until the next time" Suzanne & Mike, 2012 Tour de France Tour

A deceptive photo to grab your

attention perhaps, but this bottle of

Beaujolais from France could make you

a better rider……Ok maybe not

(although Steve does say a glass of red

is good enough for the pros then its

good enough for all). This bottle is a

superb drop and if you ever see it don’t

pass up the opportunity to sample a

bottle or 3.

Nice of you to say so…

But seriously, for Steve’s tip which is sure to make everyone a better rider simply check out pages 10 & 11 of this newsletter.

PROUDLY LAUNCHING

With over 20 years experience in the biking industry, Steve has found that nearly every

rider, no matter what level they are at, can better their cycling experience through

improved technique and increased knowledge. This is evident on any of our

procyclingtours holidays, where he’s always identifying and working with clients to

improve their skills, safety level and techniques, thus creating a far more enjoyable

experience on the bike.

During his cycling career, both as a pro in

Europe, Asia and Australia & operating

Australia’s first UCI Continental Cycling Team

(Savings & Loans) Steve held down full-time,

senior managerial and training positions

within the financial services industry. With

limited time to train he had to adopt the

very best training techniques, disciplines and

efficient methods to consistently compete

successfully at the elite level.

At 41, Steve still races at the top level in South Australia (and the odd Gran Fondo or

Sportive in Europe) and is considered one of the more experienced and successful

cyclists of his generation having won over 60 races throughout his career. He puts this

down to perfecting his ‘trade’ and now wants to share his skills and experience with all

riding enthusiasts.

“You can significantly improve as a cyclist while dedicating the same hours

to your existing training schedule.”

11

A wonderful tour taking in the fantastic sights of Southern France and even stretched to the border of Spain. This tours’ focus was more the culture, cuisine and wine….oh yeah, and some great riding!
