In Latvia there are lots of types of houses. The most popular type is a block of flats, which is a building with many apartments inside. In 2007, 72% of Latvian households lived in flats.

Detached Houses

In 2007, 23% of Latvian families lived in detached houses. These are houses for one family. They’re located in the countryside.

Semi-Detached Houses

In 2007, 5% of Latvian families lived in semi-detached houses joined to another house at one side.

Terrace Houses

In Latvia there are terrace houses, which are joint to other houses on two sides.

Inside a house there are 3 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a dining room.

BungalowsSome people live in bungalows. These houses are only on one floor, no stairs.

In Latvia flats and houses have all modern conveniences - gas, electricity, central heating, hot and cold water, telephone, television and the internet.

The most expensive houses are located in Jurmala on the coast of the Baltic sea. They are called villas.
