Spectacular Science Spectacular What a wonderful night Melbourne turned on for our Spectacular Science Spectacular on Thursday! We had an amazing turn out of students and parents who engaged themselves fully in the myriad of exciting activities such as making slime, ‘insta’ worms, electrical circuits, gliders, catapults, lava lamps, light refraction with Carl Glazebrook and viewing NASA photos from the Nayak Family. Su-preme Incursions provided a variety of great activities that everyone could participate in. We thank the fabu-lous Science team; Craig Page, Meng Tan and Catherine Sangster for their outstanding organisation and enthusiasm. We also say a big thank you to Carl and all the teach-ers that supported this really great event. It really was a 'spectacular' community event.

Is your child leaving Gardenvale Primary School? Preparations for the 2017 school year have well and truly com-menced and our Workforce Management Strategy is closely aligned to the number of students in the school. If your family plans mean your children will not re-turn to Gardenvale Primary School in 2017, could you please assist by advising us soon as your plans are known.

Class Placement 2017 Shortly, teachers will begin the lengthy process of developing well-balanced classes for optimal learning in 2017. Input from class teachers, specialist teachers, parents and children are taken into account in conjunction with learning, social and personality considerations. Parents with particular information they would like to be considered during this pro-cess may put their request in writing no later than Monday 7th November. Requests may relate to social, family or learning matters. Requests relating to individual teachers will not be considered. Have a nice week, Janine Hall Acting Principal

Over the last few months I have been working as a Senior Education Improvement Leader for the schools in

the Kingston Local Government Area. In this role I have experienced a range of challenges, issues around

policy, student management, performance management and recruitment. This role will end on December

31st and I will then assume the principalship of our great school. During my secondment I have continued to

meet with our current school leaders, School Council President Anna, attend Council meetings, work with

staff and participate in a range of school events and functions.

The Gardenvale Primary School is being capably led and guided by our current principal Janine Hall and her

work in the role continues to be outstanding. Enjoy the last few weeks of the school year and I look forward

to seeing you all before the end of 2016.

Parent’s Association

Last Friday we celebrated World Teacher Day by providing a delicious lunch for our wonderful teachers. Thank you to the lovely Candice Smith for coordinating the lunch which was catered by Zest. Thank you also to the families who brought along flowers, or made a dessert, or came along to help Candice set up and pack up afterwards. Our next PA meeting will be Tuesday 8th November at 7.30pm in the Junior School staff room. We will be planning our fund-raising and social events for 2017, so if you have a great idea or would like to be involved everyone is welcome to join in - the more the merrier!

We will also be drawing the prize for the 2 tickets to Village Gold Class for those that made a contribution to the School Fair Silent Auction at this meeting, and the winner will be revealed next week. Thanks, Tricia Ciampa

Term 4 Lice Check This is the last check for the year and the last check Hayley and Michelle will do for the school. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the school, teachers, parents and students for your support over the years.

Please keep hair styles simple and free of product on lice check days.
