CONFIGURATION ISSUE SOLUTION
Eng.Abdulaziz Alyamani, PMP [email protected]
Abstract This file will help you to solve database connectivity issue which is a very popular issue in P6 and can help you to restore any deleted database as well. The Main idea of the solution is to find the username that P6 saved your database on and to use that username & it’s password to create a new database with your projects restored on it.
pg. 1
Step 1 Go to start menu on the bottom left corner of your screen and choose "Go to database home page" Icon
Step 2 Enter database username which is usually "sys" or "system" & password which is usually "prima123vera".
If not, use the username and password you used during installation.
pg. 2
Step 3 After logging in you will choose the second left icon "object browser" then "Browse" Then
"Tables”
pg. 3
Step 4 You will search for "project", if any result appeared you will move to step number (13).
*If no result appeared it means that your database is not saved on the same username you logged
in with, so we will go and see what other users we have and change their passwords one by one
and to log in with a new username and password each time till we find the user that has your
database on, for now you will return to home page.
Press Here To Go To Home Page
pg. 4
Step 5 Choose the first left icon "Administration" then" Database users" then "Manage Users"
Step 6 The users you have on your P6 are now displayed, but you have to expand the display number to
show if you have other users that are not displayed yet (Usually displaying 50 users is enough)
pg. 5
Step 7 Now you will choose one user to change its password and to sign in again with the new user
name and password and to look again for your projects (step number 3 & 4) using the new user.
Step 8 In this example I chose the first left user, Now I can choose a new password for this user (It's
better to keep it same as Username), after that press on "Alter User" (Don't forget to write the
username and password on an external page to use them in the next login)
pg. 6
Step 9 Logout
Step 10 Sign in With the new username & password
Press Here To Logout
pg. 7
Step 11 Now since you signed in with a new user we will look again if your projects are saved on this new
user, so you will choose "object browser"......"browse"......"Tables"
Step 12 Search for "Project"
pg. 8
Step 13 If a result appeared for your search like this picture you will choose the result "project" so the
Data tab will be activated, then choose the data tab
pg. 9
Step 14 Slide right till you see "PROJ_SHORT_NAME" header and check under this column that the
mentioned projects are your p6 projects,
*If they are the same it means that your projects are saved on this user you used to sign in, so you
will create a new database using the same username and password you used them to sign in here
last time.
*If they are not your projects then you will go back to (step number 5) to choose a new user to
sign in with till you find your projects.
pg. 10
Step 15 Now that you know the username that has your database you will use it to create a new
database
Step 16 Press Add
Press Here
Press Add
pg. 11
Step 17 Press Next
Step 18 Write XE
pg. 12
Step 19 Here you will use the username & password for the user that has your project in it and press next
Congratulation you have restored your database
