3Arrive from 2pm: time to explore this amazing place.

3 Gather in the Broadwood Bar at 4pm for mulled wine & mince pies.

3 3-course dinner with wine.

3 Keep the party going with a late night at the disco.

Christmas Day (Wednesday)

3 Happy Christmas! Breakfast is a choice of ‘full English’ or continental.

3 Enjoy a walk around the grounds, or to nearby Hatton Locks on the canal. Or simply relax in the Garden Lounge.

3 We come together for prosecco and canapés in the bar, followed by a superb 5-course Christmas lunch, with wine.

3 The evening meal is a light buffet, followed by a games night with a chance to try indoor bowls, table tennis, Wii games or a quiz.

Boxing Day (Thursday)

3 No-one will worry if you’re late for breakfast!

3 There is free time to visit Warwick Castle this morning (discounted entry; self-guided visit). Our 3-course dinner tonight does not include wine, but does include our fun Murder Mystery event which is played throughout the evening!

We are delighted to return to Wroxhall Abbey’s historic country estate in

the heart of England for a thoroughly traditional Christmas break.

Getting to Wroxall Abbey could not be easier: it is just minutes from the Midlands motorway network and Birmingham airport, yet it remains a leafy Warwickshire oasis close to Stratford-upon-Avon and historic Warwick.

Estate records go back to the 12th century, when Wroxall was a Priory for nuns, while in the 16th century the Shakespeare family had links to it, and Sir Christopher Wren owned it in the 18th century, but today the heart of the estate is a sprawling Victorian mansion that operates as a privately-owned four-star hotel.

Public areas feature gothic tiles, family crests and stained-glass windows. The hotel’s cosy Broadwood Bar has leather armchairs and a piano, while Sonnets Restaurant is an atmospheric setting for our festive meals, with its oak floor, panelled walls and sparkling mirrors. Expect log fires, mulled wine, holly and ivy and a big Christmas tree to set the tone for a traditional country-house break!

Rooms are split between the mansion house and a separate courtyard. As you’d expect in a building of this age, the size, shape and character of rooms varies, with some having beams, high or sloping ceilings and original fireplaces.

The hotel’s leisure club (open during our stay) includes an indoor heated pool, sauna and mini-gym. The Spa will be open at certain times over Christmas: ask us about booking treatments in advance.

If a brisk walk in the lovely grounds or a swim in the pool doesn’t work off all that lovely food, then on Boxing Day we offer you the opportunity to discover wonderful Warwick Castle and Shakespeare’s Stratford. Alternatively, shopaholics can hit the Boxing Day sales at Touchwood shopping centre in Solihull.

Do try and stay for a third night, because the hotel is putting on a fun Murder Mystery evening for us, which starts with a pre-dinner Bucks Fizz and canapés reception, followed by a three-course dinner and a ‘who done it’ challenge!
