CARMEL DEBUT INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION PROMISES TO BRING

WORLD-CLASS MUSCIANSHIP

Carmel, IN, May 8, 2014 – The Carmel Debut International Piano Competition, in partnership

with the International Talent Academy, is set to launch its inaugural competition for pianists ages

5-19 this summer, June 19th-21st. After a rigorous preliminary screening process, semi-finalists

are invited to perform at the internationally-praised Center for the Performing Arts and vie for

the chance to win up to $1,000 in scholarships.

On June 19-20th, around 90 semi-finalists will gather at the Booth Tarkington Civic Theater in

Carmel to represent Kyrgyzstan, Israel, Japan, and North Korea, along with 15 states of USA.

After viewing the contestants audition videos, the CDIPC Committee stated that, “The caliber of

playing that is coming to our town in June is phenomenal. Carmel is in for a real treat!"

The semi-finalists will be evaluated by a panel of four esteemed judges ranging from highly-

sought international pedagogues to world-wide touring concert pianists.

On June 21st, 36 finalists will compete for placement within six age categories. A scholarship

award ceremony with an Honors Concert will follow, recognizing the prodigies of the piano

world. All aspects of the competition, including the scholarships, have been sponsored by local

businesses and generous patrons of the arts.
