PRESS RELEASE – 20.01.12 NEW ARTIST SIGNINGS FOR PERFECT SONGS Laura Bettinson: Laura signs to Perfect following the release of a string of EPs under the moniker Dimbleby & Capper and an acclaimed guest spot on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury. In 2012, she launches a new artist project – Femme – as well as embarking on a series of co-writes and collaborations. "Her music is daring, in the way it keeps the hook and sinker well-hidden in the bowels of each song," writes The Wounded Jukebox blog. "On the outside there might be some tangles, and downright dissonance, but there IS always a layer beneath, which will bake you cookies and invite you to stay..." Henry Johnson: Henry first started making music in his teens, “skateboard in one hand, acoustic guitar in the other," observed The Guardian, "he travelled and busked, pouring out his experiences into his own songs." These songs (a reaction to a childhood touring the US, Canada and playing the Royal Albert Hall with the Canterbury Cathedral choir) earned him, he says, "enough to cover my train fares and keep me in beer, cigarettes and Blur singles." Citing influences ranging from Radiohead to Ray Charles via Bill Withers, Damien Rice and Nick Drake, his music has won praise from James Morrison and Razorlight's Gus Robertson who calls Henry's work "a proper ray of light through the dull grey clouds of the monotonous pop we all have to suffer these days.” Henry signs to Perfect ready to collaborate, start recording his own material and begin writing for other acts. At July '11's Magic Loungeabout Festival, he debuted his new songs as support for Ed Sheeran and Badly Drawn Boy, and has recently worked with producers including Jerry Meehan (Adele), Eric Appapoulay (Plan B) and Rupert Fenn (Will Young).

PRESS RELEASE – 20.01.12

NEW ARTIST SIGNINGS FOR PERFECT SONGS

Laura Bettinson: Laura signs to Perfect following the release of a string of EPs under the moniker Dimbleby & Capper and an acclaimed guest spot on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury. In 2012, she launches a new artist project – Femme – as well as embarking on a series of co-writes and collaborations.

"Her music is daring, in the way it keeps the hook and sinker well-hidden in the bowels of each song," writes The Wounded Jukebox blog. "On the outside there might be some tangles, and downright dissonance, but there IS always a layer beneath, which will bake you cookies and invite you to stay..."

Henry Johnson: Henry first started making music in his teens, “skateboard in one hand, acoustic guitar in the other," observed The Guardian, "he travelled and busked, pouring out his experiences into his own songs." These songs (a reaction to a childhood touring the US, Canada and playing the Royal Albert Hall with the Canterbury Cathedral choir) earned him, he says, "enough to cover my train fares and keep me in beer, cigarettes and Blur singles."

Citing influences ranging from Radiohead to Ray Charles via Bill Withers, Damien Rice and Nick Drake, his music has won praise from James Morrison and Razorlight's Gus Robertson who calls Henry's work "a proper ray of light through the dull grey clouds of the monotonous pop we all have to suffer these days.”

Henry signs to Perfect ready to collaborate, start recording his own material and begin writing for other acts.

Dom Brown: Late last year, Perfect also signed a deal with Dom Brown, whose CV includes soundtracks, solo albums and – for the past five years – guitarist and co-songwriter with Duran Duran. His recent songs include All You Need is Now (iTunes #1, co-written and produced by Mark Ronson) and Girl Panic! (scoring 5 million hits on YouTube in the last two months). In the midst of touring the world as part of Duran Duran, Dom is actively co-writing with new and established artists.

Comments Trevor Horn, founder of Perfect Songs: "Perfect is most well known its rich, 30-year repertoire of hits and classic songs – the Seal catalogue being a prime example. This year we're ramping up our investment in new artists and in discovering and developing emerging talent. We're really excited by the signing of Henry, Laura and Dom: three very different artists, but all three with a lot to say and masses of creative and commercial potential."

These new signings follow the arrival of a fresh team and energy at Perfect Songs. Head of Publishing, Alan Kading joined in 2011 following eight years at Stage Three Music/BMG and seven years beforehand as General Manager of Bug Music. He is joined by A&R/Creative Manager Flash Taylor (formerly with Sony ATV), and A&R manager/SPZ director Aaron Horn.
