Business delegation from Jiangsu Province of the People’s Republic of China to visit

Greater Seattle

During May 24-26, over 100 business representatives including 60 CEO’s and development

representatives from the Jiangsu Province of the People’s Republic of China will be in Seattle

as part of an economic and trade mission.

Surrounding Shanghai, Jiangsu Province is one of the wealthiest and most developed coastal

provinces in the People’s Republic of China. Its GDP increased by 11% in the year of 1998,

compared with 7.8% for all of China. Jiangsu Province leads China in foreign trade volume, FDI

inflow and overseas investment. As one of the most well-educated provinces, Jiangsu Province is

the location of predicted future growth in China.

The Jiangsu Economic delegation will be presenting business opportunities to the Washington

state business community on May 25 from 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 pm. at the Sheraton Hotel. Business

opportunities in electronics/IT, machinery, infrastructure, agriculture, environmental

protection and pharmaceuticals will be presented during ½ hour appointments at designated

tables.

The group’s visit to Seattle will commence with a city tour leading to the Chinese Gardens in

West Seattle.

The delegation will also have the opportunity to visit Boeing in Everett, PACCAR, ATL

Ultrasound, and Smith Nursery in Snohomish County during their time in Seattle.
