Schedule

•  1st Semester course. Attendance to class is a requirement.

•  Starting date: September 5th 2013. Ending: January 24th 2013. ▫  17 Weeks. ▫  Exceptions in the regular schedule:

  October 8th (Monday), Tuesday classes.   October 31st (Tuesday), Thursday classes.

•  Weekly sessions divided into: ▫  Theoretical session: 90 minutes ▫  Practical session : 90 minutes ▫  Lab session: 60 minutes

Contents of the course •  Module 1: Introduction to the Business

Goals: the students adquires a global idea of what a firm is. Ch 1: The firm and its environment. Concept and types of economical sectors. Description of the sectors. Concept of company. Functions of the company. Types of companies. Types of companies of the aeronautical sector. General and specific environment of the company. Ch 2. Corporate body of a business. Types of companies according to their corporate bodies. Description of each kind and analysis of its features, specially: corporations; limited liabilities societies, cooperatives. Ch 3: The Management of the company and its functions. Business and Businessman. Goals of a company. Organizational Structure. Models of management. The making decision process.

•  Module 2: Subsystem of Production Goals: Introduce the student to the production processes developed in the sector. Analyze the production processes developed in the sector, the planning of the production and the production costs. Ch 4: Production system of the company. Concept and elements of the production system. Goals and decisions of production system. Production technology, productivity and improvement. Ch5: Planning the production. Location. Productive capacity. Production programming Production costs. Behaviour and classification of the costs. System of costs. The costs and the making decision process. Break even point.

•  Module 3: Commercial Subsystem Goals: Introduce the student to the terms and concepts of the company marketing. Analyze the

main marketing strategies and commercial decisions. Ch 6: Marketing in the company. Elements and concepts of marketing. Sources of information. Market

research Ch 7: Management and commercial planning. Demand of products or services. Marketing mix. Ch 8: Marketing Tools. Concept of product. Cycle of a product. Differenciation of the product. Branding.

Product and Brand. •  Module 4: Subsystem of Investment and Finance Goals: Introduce the student to the financial system and the financial operations. Analyze the

main financial decisions of the company. Ch 9: System of finance and investment. Goals and decisions of the system of investment and finance. Markets

and financial assets. Ch 10: the investment decisions. Definition of investment. Classification of investments. Assesment of

investments. Ch 11: the financial decisions. The financial system. The sources of finance of the company. The cost of the

financial sources. •  Module 5: Information subsystem.

Goals: Introduce the student to the Accounting system as a tool for managing the companies. As consequence the student should be able to analyze and make decisions with the information that the Accounting system provides.

Ch 12: Information system. Relevance of the information system. Goals. Accounting as a tool for the making decision process of the company.

Ch 13: the General Accounting Plan. Elements of the Financial estates: Assets, Liabilities and Net assets. Concept of Net Assets. Acounting Principles. Valuation criteria. Valuation Rules.

Ch 14: Annual accounts. Analysis. Balance sheet; Gain and Losses Sheet, memory, changes of the net assets and cash flows. Analysis of the annual accounts: liquidity ratio, debt ratio, profitability, rate of return.

Evaluation system •  Evaluation through multiple choice: 40%. •  3 tests, contents are cumulative.

•  1st test: 10% •  2nd test: 15% •  3rd test: 15%

•  Evaluation through projects: 30%. •  Public presentation: 15% •  Written assignment: 15%

•  Evaluation through observation: tasks, exercises…): 15%.

•  Evaluation by classmates: 15%.
