DEFINATION OF EDUCATION

The act or process of acquiring any particular knowledge or skills, as for a profession is known education.

EDUCATION IN PAKISTAN

Education in Pakistan is overseen by Ministry of Education of government of Pakistan.

The academic institution are the responsibility of provisional government.

Federal government is responsible for curriculum development, accreditation & some finance research.

Pakistan produces about 4,45,000 university graduates and 10,000 computer science graduates per year.

With 18 million of population the 11 % of peoples having the command over the English and it makes it 9TH largest country in the world and 3RD largest country in ASIA.

The education system in Pakistan is generally divided into five levels ..

• Level – 1 : PRIMARY (grades 1 through 5 )• Level – 2: MIDDLE (grades 6 through 8)• Level – 3: SECONDARY ( grades 9 & 10 )• Level – 4: HIGHER SECONDARY ( grade 11 & 12) • Level – 5: UNIVERSITY PROGRAM.

In tribal areas the literacy rate of women is just as low as 7.5%

At the time of independence Pakistan had only one University, which was Punjab University Lahore

Now Pakistan have more than 132 Universities of which 73 are public and 59 are private

During 1947-2003 not a single university of Pakistan could be ranked among the top 600 universities of the world…......!!!

But today 5 to 6 Pakistani universities belong to the prestigious group of worlds best universities ….!!!!

Among all the criticism over Pakistani education system the one of the most important criticism is the GENDER DISPARITY.

It can be analyze by, female to male ratio (i-e F/M) ratio …!!!!!
