Everybody knows: The CFA designation is a tough nut to crack. Collecting 4 years of relevant work experience seems positively easy after having gone through three of the most difficult exams in finance, often more than once.

That’s why CFA Switzerland is determined to help all serious CFA Candidates in the Swiss market to navigate the tricky waters of passing the exams. The Society’s mo -tive is selfish: We want to strengthen the CFA designation as the Go-To standard for professionalism and ethical behaviour in Switzerland. To achieve that, we need many more Charterholders in all sorts of responsible positions. We want to help you get there!

But there is no easy way. We can only help you to be better prepared, and avoid the #1 mistake: not studying hard enough. There’s no shortcut.

The Society has created the membership category “Candidate Member” solely for Candidates in the CFA Program who would not otherwise qualify as Members.

MEMBERSHIP

Candidate Members of CFA Switzerland gain access to a powerful network of finance pro-fessionals, engaged in educational and social events throughout the country, where they learn that volunteering is networking with a purpose. They benefit from the Member Value Pack’s wide range of perks. But most importantly, they improve their chances of success by participating in support formats hosted by the Society.

To qualify for membership, Candidates must be enrolled in the CFA Program and have registered for a CFA exam in Geneva or Zurich in the course of the last five years. Remem-ber that enrolment in the CFA Program never expires, but the Society looses sight of Candi-dates who have been passive for more than five years.

MOCK EXAMS

The CFA exams are hard – really hard. In fact, there’s nothing quite like a CFA exam to prepare you for the experience – better make it two and more!

That’s why the Society offers Live Mock Exams to Candidates in Geneva and Zurich. Many generations of Candidates have benefited from this preparation for the day, which consists in realistically uncomfortable settings, tight timing and deadlines, at-tentive proctors and the eerie silence (sometimes not so much) of the exam room. Plus we’re not sure how many Candidates have been saved by volunteer Proctors’ checking the conformity of their admission documents with CFA Institute guidelines ahead of the day ...

Mock exams are offered in Geneva and Zurich five and two weeks respectively ahead of the exam for all levels. The first exam is to familiarise yourself with the exam format and identify gaps in your preparation. You then have three more weeks to fill those gaps and gain confidence for E-Day during the second mock exam just two weeks ahead of the real thing.

CFA Switzerland offers live mock exams in partnership with FitchLearning, a leading provider of CFA preparation materials in multiple formats. ABOUT REVIEW COURSES

The Review Course offered by the Society in cooperation with ISFB (Geneva) and FHSG (Zurich) provides Candidates with a unique, intense opportunity to review all mate-rial concepts and methods of the upcoming exam in a compact, 4-day format from Thursday through to Monday, with Sunday as a well deserved break. Note that you are expected to be familiar with the Candidate Body of Knowledge for your level already, the Review Course is at an advanced level of understanding.

Experienced instructors (CFA Charterholders or advanced Candidates) offer a differ-ent approach to the material in small classes of 8 lessons a day and answer your remaining questions. While the course is conducted in English to practise terminology, instructors speak French or German when required to break down language barriers preventing comprehension of difficult concepts.

The course is based on teaching materials provided by FitchLearning. Course partici-pants receive the full course material. The courses in Geneva and Zurich are scheduled in a time window between the first and the second Live Mock Exams to allow Candi-dates to identify their gaps in the first mock and gain confidence in the second – make sure to order the option when registering as capacity is limited.

Obviously we cannot guarantee a favourable result, but we feel nevertheless confi-dent enough to promise you a 50% discount on the next Review Course of the same level, should you fail the exam.
