USES OF ASYNCHRONOUS,
SYNCHRONOUS, AND
BLENDED TECHNOLOGY IN
CLASS
Design an artistic representation of your element, including
properties that represent that element.
Using research developed outside of class you will work with
your partners in order to develop a digital and physical
representation of said element.
You will be expected to incorporate the techniques you have
been learning in art and technology.
You will be graded based on the general MYP Rubric,
clarification will be discussed in class. Each class will assign
a specific grade and criteria.
PROJECT EXPECTATIONS
Examples of physical copies are attached, as well as tools to use in Photoshop
Choose an Element from the periodic table.
Conduct research in the next 2 weeks to understand the
properties of your element.
Focus on unique aspects
Take notes on these properties
Begin thinking of a way of representing your element
artistically.
OUTLINE
Artistic rendition of your element. (Physical and Digital)
Inclusion of specific properties of that element.
Description of the adaptation and properties.
Basic properties of the element (Symbol, mass, Atomic
number)
REQUIREMENTS
In art they practice and learn shading techniques,
Using photoshop, students will incorporate those
Ideas while learning the ins/outs of photoshop
Ultimately I am requiring the students to turn in 2
representations of their atom.
1. Digital 2. Hand drawn/created
Within their respective classes, art and technology the
students will work with those teachers to create models
following artistic guidelines.
In science they will be graded on the accuracy of their model
and information.
FINAL PRODUCT
Specifically because Cadmium is a main
Ingredient in yellow paint
Not because this represents the element itself
But the discoverer and representation of the given
Name.
To make this a blended activity, the students will be given the
topic idea and project information in class. I myself providing
both a print and digital copy as an example.
In a matter of 2 weeks, they will conduct research outside of
class, to discover dif ferent aspects of their specific elements,
and how they fit together on the scientific periodic table.
Resources will be provided via moodle and googledocs for them to
focus research.
Within our respective classes we will be discussing the
dif ferent styles in which to present their element.
Having them do research outside of class, we can work
together on focusing their research and well as checking the
legitimacy of it while designing their graphic representations.
METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
