Stanza Stanzas are like paragraphs in writing.

They are groups of lines, usually 4 lines.“Hope” is the thing with feathers -That perches in the soul -And sings the tune without the words -And never stops - at all -

And sweetest in the Gale is heardAnd sore must be the storm That could abash the little BirdThat kept so many warm

I’ve heard it in the chillest land And on the strangest Sea Yet never in Extremity,It asked a crumb of me.-Emily Dickinson

Words Words are what make up a poem. There are many ways to use words; for

rhyme, for rhythm, to make sentences longer.

Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul And sings the tune without the words And never stops at all

And sweetest in the Gale is heard And sore must be the storm That could abash the little Bird That kept so many warm

I’ve heard it in the chillest land And on the strangest Sea Yet never in Extremity, It asked a crumb of me.

Alliteration Alliteration is the repetition

of a sound in a poem. "Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified…”-V for Vendetta
