Properties of Outdoor Durable Polyester Resins

Albecor Low Temperature Curing Powder ResinsEnergy Savings, Enhanced Performance In response to market demand for advanced technologies with low environmental impact, Synthomer has developed Albecor—a complete portfolio of Low Temperature Curing (LTC) powder coating resins.

These resins are designed to reduce the carbon foot print of powder coating products and their application, while offering special properties, aesthetics and performance equal to or better than those of standard powder coating resins.

Benefits of Albecor Resin-Based Powder Coatings Compared with Standard Systems

• Reduced energy consumption

• Equivalent properties, aesthetics and performance

• Blooming free

• Better yellowing control

• Faster handling of heavy parts

• Accelerated line speeds

• Enhanced performance on thermally sensitive substrates

• CO2 emission reduction

• Reduced consumption of fossil energy

Market Advantages• Building & Construction

Savings from Albecor LTC technology can be exploited without losing coating certifications such as GSB and Qualicoat

• Transportation, General Industry Savings from decreased energy demand and shortened curing / cooling cycle times are possible for large, high thermal inertia pieces of equipment

• Appliances Reduced energy demand can enhance cost profiles

• Heat Sensitive Substrates Powder coating is now an option 0 10 20 50

Standard Cure Cycle Low Temperature Cure Cycle

Among these techno logies, Synthomer offers products that cure at temperatures as low as 140°C. These resins also exhibit significant blooming reduction and meet GSB and Qualicoat standards.

Making Powder Coatings More SustainableIn developing sustainable, cutting edge technologies like Albecor, Synthomer has introduced Life Cycle Analysis. LCA is a tool for analyzing the environmental performance of potential new pro ducts in order to evaluate the energy and environmental charges linked to them, from design (eco-design) through manu-facture and disposal.

Cured at low temperature, Albecor 2531—combined with polyglycidyl ester hardeners—shows superior bending compared with conventional high reactivity resins.

Flexible Options

Albecor LTC Resins – Meet a Full Range of Outdoor RequirementsWhile they save you time, energy and money, Synthomer’s innovative LTC powder coating resins for outdoor applications offer the same or better features and performance compared with standard products.Albecor outdoor durable resins are extremely tough and can meet GSB and Qualicoat standards, including superdurable. They are blooming free and offer excellent chemical resistance, mechanical properties, and flow. Plus, Synthomer offers a variety of LTC products with unique properties including:• High or low gloss• Enhanced flexibility• Excellent weathering• Storage stability

A Low-gloss and Low Energy OptionAlbecor 1420/1450 is a dry-blend, TGIC-free system for architectural applications that imparts excellent outdoor durability, flexibility and aging performance. It can be formulated to achieve 20 to 35 units of gloss. With this product, curing temperature can be lowered from 190 – 200 °C down to 160 °C while keeping the same line speed, allowing for significant energy savings.

Synthomer is one of the world’s leading suppliers of emulsion and speciality polymers supporting leadership positions in many market segments including coatings, construction, technical textiles, adhesives, paper and synthetic latex gloves. The company has its Head Office in London (UK) and provides customer focused services from operational centres in Harlow (UK), Marl (Germany), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Shanghai (China) and Dubai (UAE). In June 2016 we have acquired the Monomers, Dispersions and Powders business (MDP) from Hexion with dedicated production,

sales and customer service facilities in North America, Europe and South East Asia. In March 2017, we acquired the coalescing agents and Butyl Ethyl Propanediol (BEPD) business from Perstorp Oxo Belgium AB. The newly acquired businesses significantly improve our footprint to a number of speciality markets which we will continue to serve through a strong network of local technical service and sales branches, supported by regional application development and production in our key markets. We deliver the right formula, globally, individually.
