1Raise achievement and accelerate students’ progress, especially in maths, through improvements to the quality of teaching and learning by: (a) using assessment information more effectively so that learning activities are accurately tailored to challenge students of all abilities, including the most able; (b) ensuring that assessment through marking and oral feedback consistently helps students to enter into a dialogue with teaches about how to improve their learning; (c) improving the quality of questioning in order to deepen understanding and extend thinking; (d) develop a systematic approach to consistent language to support reading and writing across the school so all students have full access to the curriculum 2Improve the effectiveness of the governing body by ensuring that the new systems recently set up are implemented rapidly to: (a) ensure safeguarding arrangements are robust and rigorously monitored; (b) review regularly, monitor the implementation and assess the impact of statutory policies on staff, learners, parents and carers; (c) ensure that the pace of change is accelerated with a strong focus on making improvements that will lead directly to higher achievement for students

External maths consultant produced subject specific action plans for year 11 improvement; revised scheme of work for year 11 maths; study+ maths specific resource packs; 1:1 and small group support from GRE, NJA and WC

Awarding body training from Edexcel for maths department

Gifted & talented departmental audit completed by SHoCs – g&t

Impact

Some improvements in yr11 maths progress apparent; improved understanding of the changes to GCSE maths exam

Improved yr11 maths GCSE re-sit scores

Raised profile of G&T students, possibility of A* in maths

New staff induction revamped with a strong focus on safeguarding; all new staff receive a safeguarding pack and must complete an online safeguarding questionnaire as part of the induction process

Sixth form student manager appointed, with safeguarding expertise
