The topic is dense Living in Delft. Density happens through collectivity. Looking at existing forms of liv-ing the form of the family is the most commune one. Hence families are here the basis for the draft. To be more precise it is about the family of the designer her-self. The wide range of personalities, forms of living and wishes for the future enhances the finding of a very personal and explicit architecture.

The property is in direct connection to a big park and to the central train station of Delft. The positioning on a parking garage leads to the idea of taking the existing parking raster and using it for the building itself. This way the forces from the building can easily be lead into the earth and it also gives a clear and firm structure for the building.

The need of different sizes of floor plans can also be easily solved with this principle. Couples and small fami-lies get the width of one parking space and families two. In the latest, the difference from the first one is under-lined by structuring the floor plan with walls each two parking spaces. By adding additional walls the clearity of the raster would be weakened, hence there are room describing boxes. These boxes take care of functions like kitchen, bathroom and stairs. At the same time they also describe room zones in the rest of the floor plan.

The roofing of the building depends on the type of the floor plan and always is defined from wall to wall. But it may also differ within one floor plan or even change the direction to lead to the perfect lighting of the rooms. Furthermore the boxes can cut through the roof in order to enhance natural lighting within the functional rooms.

The facade shows in a subtle way the different residents through differentiated layers of brick. Also through different window elements. The openings have the same size but every user gets his own element which only he gets to use.

In case of divorce of any residential family, the dynamic system of families itself is shown in the facade because at some point the facade will not match the floor plan behind it any more.

The main facade shows the passing pedestrians all themes of the building without being overloaded. It shows the different layers of brick and window ele-ments and herewith also users, forms of roofing and herewith also types of floor plans. Furthermore there is an outer wooden box which leads the pedestrians as a flower shop into the first public courtyard. Addition-ally to the flower shop there are further public uses like a guest house where the family can invite friends to and also a library.

The library is different within the main concept by changing from the common horizontal arrangement to a strong vertical one. Tis happens through the design of the facade, an open staircase, a bookshelf reaching from the first floor up to the roof, and the design of the floors themselves on each Level. Furthermore the library plays with the public courtyard. This one consists of stairs which is possible through the height of the parking garage. This arrangement is not only for accessing the living spaces but it also invites to stay and relax. The visitors can sit here with a book and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the building. The first courtyard is different from the private one po-sitioned further in the back because this one basically only consists of a green space. This yard is more familiar and is only meant for the residents themselves.

But in order to give the residents the opportunity for complete privacy, there is an alleyway that only they have access to. This alleyway is as wide as a small floor plan. The two small living space situated next to it get the opportunity to widen their floor plan with boxes to the dimension of two parking spaces. This way even the given raster leaves space to create own spaces within.

The Bendplatz in Aachen is an undeveloped space which so far ist mainly used for fairs and such. However, now it needs to be deveoloped as an urban space for living.

The Bendplatz is a concreted huge space and is situated on the north west border of Aachen between low-rise industrial and prefabricated high-rise university build-ings. The area is mainly defined by the adjacent Lindt choc-olate factory which has a popular sales outlet attract-ing even tourists to come all the way out.

The absence of green spaces and missing cultural infra-structure leads to the residents lacking identification with their own neighbourhood. Despite its closeness to the town centre it is separated from it by a busy ring road.

As a mean to make the space more attractive and lively, three main measures have to be taken. Thre residents need to be able to identify with the lo-cal industry by integrating it into the Bendplatz.

Furthermore diverse green spaces need to be installed as places of communication and encounter. Since Aachen is a city crowded with students visiting the local university, space to live is limited. The crea-tion of quality housing for students linked to the de-velopment of the adjacent Campus-West is therefore on the fore.

What also is of high importance is the interaction of the newly attracted residents among themselves. The conception of the planned residential buildings therefore gives the chance of numerous encounters not only in shared flats, but also through external pergo-las, semi-private courtyards and even open spaces within the building itself.

This way, communal living in an urban setting is created giving the residents a chance to identify with the in-dustrial area but still being able to enjoy life in com-fortable housing with the chance of relaxation and recreation.

The Atlethic Gym is an attrak-tiv, multifunctional hall en-closing a sports area of 1.600m2 when the weather is bad and 11.100m2 if the weather is suit-able to play outside.

In addition to fashion sport, also conventional indoort sports, exhibitions, concerts and other similar events can take place. The event venue and the active zone can not only interconnect with each other, but also with the outdoor area which mainly offers courses and bleachers.

The outdoor area is of a special importance for the design.The gym is positioned in a pit, surrounded by retaining walls which carry big trussed beams. With the help of these trussed beams, a post-free interconnec-tion of indoor and outdoor

area is possible.Furthermore there is the op-tion to combine gym and active zone or separate them if necces-sary.

The draft is clearly structured and plays with the orientation of the property.

The entrance is accessible from the main street and leads straight into a waling holding all adjoining rooms.

Both gym areas - sports hall and active zone - are observable and accessible. The interaction of the separate zones leads to a flowing, linear direction of motion, conscioul-sy crossed through the waling to enable the interconnection of the separate halls with the outdoor area in the basement.

This design is dedicated to two fashion designers. Karo-lina Piech is very young and aspiring, while Martin Mar-giela is already very popular and starting to come to rest. Karolina lives by herself, likes to welcome guests though, whereas Martin enjoys to spend his nights in peace with his wife.

But since their fashion designs are very similar, they could both profit from one another: She by being in-fluenced from his presence and by learning from him, and he by being protected from public, since he is rather introverted and barely ever shows himself to the public.

Hence Karolina lays herself as a protcting layer around Martin in the floor plan so that there emerges a center of the building. Thus he gets a building which is only exposed through inner courtyards which leads him to have similar to Karolina floorlike rooms. The outdoor spaces which are pulled into the internal space are being further thematised, by growing spongelike through the entire building. This way, they retroactively influence Karolina's rooms again.The interaction of both residents is encouraged by hor-izontal and vertikal intertwining of both their living spaces. Karolina fits her floor plan to Martin, so that he keeps the upper hand in the design.

This orientation entails that he gets a clear, structured plan, whereas she experiences a dynamic spatial chaos.

The floorlike rooms are supported by the walls them-selves, which strike through different functions: they are not just partition, but also instrument of interac-tion of the both residents and also furniture.

Arising from the rule that all rooms hoist as volumes, only defined by need and wished for room atmosphere and hence ceilling height, the design becomes a scenery of towers.

This conceptual multilayer is being picked up to the out-side by an offset facade. Also as a volume, the facade cov-ers the entire building and only seldomly touches the inner building structure. Both facades - inner and outer - get different functions and herewith follow different aims: While the outer facade represents and hides to the public, the inner fa-cade acts as a mean to expose the rooms and protect the residents. The outer facade tries to blend in by adopting usual matierals of the surrounding buildings, whereas the inner facade simply develops out of the inner struc-ture and therefore has its very own aim.

Why not approach a residence built in a city in the same way one would a vacation home? After all, in todays urban lifestyle, residences are no longer the places in which we normally spend most of our time. Much more realistic would be to regard their role as places in which we enjoy repose or relax in a comfortable envi-ronment, for brief spells of time. Vacation homes that are part of our daily life. Tich is a very extraordinary artist who understands to transform his photographs to unique pictures with the help of smallest interventions. His cameras are built by himself out of customary household items as a ready-made.He also does the evolving of the photographs himself which leads to give the pictures finger prints or par-tially even with flies which came with the picture.

This perfectly fits the whole picture of Tich: to his fel-low men he appears neglected, just like his little cot-tage in Czechia. Looking at this cottage, it conveys that Tich seems be afflicted with the Hoard and Clutter Syndrome. The design hence intends to give the inconsistent and chaotic life of the hermit Tich a certain amount of or-der, but not confine him in who he is. Simplicity, func-tionality and structure and hence in the foreground, without restricting Tich in his freedom.

The basis for the draft is very strict geometrically structure floor plan which is arranged symmetrically windmill-like around a central staircase. With the help of clear utilization zones the artist is offered missed structure.In order to be able to feel comfortable in his domicile he is offered the unique possibility to decide himself what the rooms and their atmospheric impact is going to be like. Predefined are only the architectural basic form and low-key furniture which structure and define the rooms as such.For him to be really hidden within the city, the first floor will be completely transformed into an office for an agency for professional cleaning. Only the big win-dows in the upper floors will give passing pedestrians a hint in who might live here.

At the hands of his repetitive motion sequences of the inhabitant there will be paths at the one hand and empty spaces on the others which do not function as active using area. Over time, these empty spaces will ac-cumulate all kind of things, thanks to the compulsion of Tichs hoarding syndrome.

It is not until the accumulation of all the items on the once empty spaces trash, collectibles, photographies, etc. that the architecture and room of Tichs exile domicile is defined.

It is about the city. To be more precise about the rooms of the city. Even more precise about the interspace in the city.

Agreeing to an initiative to maintaining green spaces and to the need of a new hotel in the given area, the design implies to use a pillbox from earlier wars as a basis for a new hotel. Since tourism in Aachen is turning to short-er stays rather than long ones, the hotel is not going to be a conventional one. It is going to be an Automate- or also Nomad-hotel for transients.

The form of the constructional parasite is oriented towards little bird nesting boxes which hang on the Northern site of the bunker. In order to not only em-body adaptability but also individuality, the parasite

differentiate from each other as they represent differ-ent room types. The design of the interior space is ori-ented on different needs and wishes of the particular resident.Since only a few parasites offer sanitation, there will be an additional sanitation type on each site of the bunker which is free to use for the visitors.

The form of the windows of the parasites is oriented on two basic parameters: Light and view. This way, every room gets to windows. While one is directed to the sunlight (east or west, since hotel visitors mostly use their rooms in the morn-ing and at night), the other gives you the view to some-thing neat (tree, birds nesting boxes, etc.).
