POLITICAL, SOCIAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL

CONTEXTS OF BRAZIL.

The Collective ES3 is an organization formed by three artists and producers working in the city of Natal, with great concern, both artistic and political, with the eld of performance art. In 2009 presented the performances "Fando and Lis" and "Unbeatable Us, We Are at Chico Villa!”, this last as result of an artistic and teaching process developed in the community of Mãe Luiza (Brazil - Natal-Rio Grande do Norte).In that same year presented and produced the performances “What Egon Schiele would be saying” and “Puppets and Ventricles” in Salvador (Brazil - Bahia) on the “National Encounter of Arts Students”. In the same year ES3 was awarded the XIII Exhibition of Visual Arts of Natal for its theoretical research concerning the history of performance art in Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil).In 2010 exhibit in the city of Natal the performance art pieces “ES3” and “Cleansed” in the state festival “Down of Natal”. Presented in that year two more performances entitled “Futurist Performance” and “From the Heart” selected for the local festival of performance art “BodeArt”.ES3 created and bring to the audience in the city of Natal the artistic installation “Frogs”, in the month of may 2010, taking place at the galleria of TECESol (Solidarity Economy and Creation Territory).In 2011 the Collective performs “Geräuschkulisse (the background noise)”, “ES3” and “Another Manifest” through the Casa da Ribeira's fund “Open Scenes” (Brazil – Rio Grande do Norte – Natal). ES3 is invited again to present their performances at the “National Encounter of Arts Students”, showing two new performances: “Abyssal Medulla” and “Thorns Landscape”.Still in 2011 the visual projects of performance design for the performances “Fando and Lis” and “ES3” are selected for the “Brazilian Exhibition on the Prague's Quadrennial”. Both the projects are included in the catalogue of “Prague's Quadrennial” and in the catalogue of “Brazilian Exhibition on Prague's Quadrennial”, this last one pressed and distributed for the Culture Ministry of Brazil.

Continuing in 2011, ES3 produced and presented the performances “What is here is everywhere” and “First Manifest” in regional galleries in the northeastern of Brazil. In 2011 the Collective created and developed one of his most successful projects, embracing a big part of contemporary performance art in Brazil in one place, in one exhibition, in one festival. This project it's called “Performance Circuit BodeArte”, and in its rst edition in this same year brings together fty performance artists from all the regions of Brazil.Ending 2011, ES3 produced and curate the exhibition “Movement-Moment: Time Fragment” on Contemporary Art Gallery of Casa da Ribeira (Brazil – Rio Grande do Norte – Natal).Getting to 2012, ES3 presented the performance “Manifest Body” on the Multicultural Festival of Recife (Brazil - Pernambuco), curated by Rodrigo Dourado. The Collective, by invitation of Casa da Ribeira, participated in the rst edition of “Arte Praia”, that proposed a curatorship of performances at the beaches on the city of Natal. ES3 integrated this project with the performance “Buy your space at the beach”. Later this year that performance piece photography's were in an exhibition entitled “Vestiges of Beach Art” curated by Gustavo Wanderley.The participation on the project “Arte Praia” it's published by Casa da Ribeira in a catalogue at the end of 2012, and distributed for the National Foundation of Arts (Funarte) to all the regions of Brazil. Later in 2012 produced and published the performance art on-line platform “Remote Un-control” along with the performance artists and curator Angelo Luz and Fernando Ribeiro, and the producer Janaína Spode. This project had gained a fund of National Foundation of Arts (Funarte) through the project “National Network of Visual Arts Funarte 2011”. The fund invested on the creation of the Brazilian performance art on-line platform, and the production of a documentary with interviews and works of performance artists located at the cities of Natal (Rio Grande do Norte) and Curitiba (Paraná). The documentary “The desire and the borders of the power” was directed by Angelo Luz, and counted with the production of Collective ES3.

Through the investment made for Funarte's fund, ES3 performed four works at Curitiba (Brazil – Paraná), three of them new at that moment, “El Borderfucker”, “Compositions to forget that I'm not here”, “In-stalactite”, and one of them already performed, “Manifest Body”. This last one participated of the performance exhibition “p.Arte”, that was curate by Fernando Ribeiro and Tissa Valverde.In 2012 produced the second edition of the “Performance Circuit BodeArte”, this time bringing together more than seventy performance artists from Brazil in the city of Natal, and embracing the participation of more fteen performance artists collaborating with photographical and video registration of their performances. The second edition of “Performance Circuit BodeArte” became a landmark of independent production in performance art all over Brazil, and it's recognized as one of the actual important references about the contemporary creation and production in performance art in Brazilian territory.Still in 2012 presented in collaboration with Companhia Suspensa (Brazil – Minas Gerais) the performance “I know of no reason to love but to love”, and was selected for participation at the “Ribeira's Circuit”, produced by the “Ribeira – Creative Territory”, in this event with an audience average number of thirty thousand people, ES3 performs the following works: “Potiguar Walkway”, “Puppets and Ventricles” and “What Egon Schiele would be saying”.Also edited and released in 2012 the video-performances “El Caminero de Pasaje” and “Immersion” in collaboration with Angelo Luz.Coming to the year of 2013, ES3 was again selected for the fund of National Foundation of Arts (Funarte) through the project “National Network of Visual Arts Funarte 2011”, with the proposal of itinerant artistic residences in performance art. The proposal called “CEP – Body, Space, Ways” was elaborated in a association with the visual artist Túlio Pinto, from Porto Alegre (Brazil – Rio Grande do Sul).Through this fund the Collective presented in the south of Brazil a series composed of fteen performances entitled “Out-of-door

Fragment”. From that series of performances derivate an exhibition produced by the galleria Atelier Subterrânea (Brazil – Rio Grande do Sul – Porto Alegre): “Fragmentary of Actions on the Street”.The Collective was selected to the project “Northeast Open Scenes” produced by the Casa da Ribeira and curated by Gustavo Wanderley, in wich ES3 presented the performances “Landscape Body”, “I know of no reason to love but to love” and “Thorns Landscape” (Brazil – Rio Grande do Norte – Natal).ES3 also integrated in 2013 the performance event “Gesture Noise” (Brazil – Rio Grande do Sul – Rio Grande), with the video-performances “Landscape for Mobile Circles” and “Occupy the Fat”. At the same period participated of the “Performance Exhibition of the Galleria Cañizares” (Brazil – Bahia – Salvador) with the video-performance “Thorns in the Landscape” and “Hunger Artist”.Latest in 2013 performed three new works at the festival “Performance Body Politics” curated by Grupo Corpos Informáticos. The works performed were: “Fomentation to the Artist”, “Self Cleaning” and “The pardon is blue”.In the course of their own history the Collective ES3 has invested in actions of pedagogical and educational focus, researching ways and possibilities of approaching the contemporary art and the performance art to the audience in academic and common spaces of discussion. With that in mind, ES3 conducted lectures and workshops in events like: Tubo de Ensaios (University of Brasília), Perfor2 (Brazil Performance Association), Encuentro of Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics (New York University), Ribeira Circuit (Ribeira – Creative Territory), Open Scenes (Casa da Ribeira), Gambiarra (TECESol), Cultural Seminar Iberescena (C.A.S.A.), Performance Body Politics (Grupo Corpos Informáticos), International Performance Festival Perpendicular (Wagner Rossi Campos).
