The brand of Flrorim stands out with personalised attitude and specific sensibility in material development and design ap-proach, that leads to timeless quality features of one of the basic raw materials, the ceramic, that is being used since prehistoric ages. For that reason, the project treats the products of Florim as a future artefact, that is the result of a possible excavation process. In this way, atemporal value and sense of continous evolution are introduced in the message that the exhibition tries to transmit.

Future archaeology is the act of realising the present moment as a constant process, that is a part of a dynamic stratification of time, which the visitor is invited to experience in order to go to the origin of the processes, to the raw essence of material and to feel and discover the aceivement of the product excellence. The archaeological methodology of investigation and vertical observation is the main exhibition principle. The object is the result of a future excavation, whose signs could be literally seen by the visitor.

DEGREE FINAL PROYECT

Ever since its origins, architecture has always been connected with the architect’s capacity to create a space that meets certain needs. However, as Plato shows in the Allegory of the Cave, knowledge depends directly on the space; namely the mind is built by the space; it means, the mind is built by the space. When designing a Research Centre we must know how it works in accordance with the Scientific Method to identify each research step with a particular space, and each space must be designed in order to influence our knowledge in a specific way.

Taking a problem as the starting point for the Scientific Method, the thesis relates each stage to a specific space where these activities could be carried out to best effect. With the aid of some great works by renowned archi-tects such as Le Corbusier, Kahn, Mies, Wright and architecture groups like SANAA. We can identify the most significative spaces like the environment, libraries, administration offices, laboratories and exhibition rooms which are associated with the Scientific Method process.

This thesis, also studies the best characteristics of these spaces and ends by demonstrating how all these aspects can be grouped in a single building. The design solution for a Research Centre contains the precise environment capable of stimulating inspiration and activity: a library were diffuse lighting and flexible division can be combined with the storage of books; some administration spaces with a studied corporate structure inside an open-plan; a laboratory with the state-of-art lighting and ventilation technology within a flexible order; and finally some mee-ting points including corridors with different conditions in order to be adapted to any use.In conclusion, spaces with these characteristics will provide optimum conditions for research projects and also further the knowledge of those that work there.
