Short Bio: John and Kendra are professional nature photographers, educators and outdoor enthusiasts. John has focused on dragonflies and damselflies throughout much of his career and wrote two books on these subjects. They have traveled throughout Latin America, Africa and other parts of the world where they take photos of pretty much anything in the natural world.

They have jobs outside of photography as researchers and that actually allows them to travel all over the world. Their inspiration is ecology. Kendra’s background in ecology really helps her understand the behavior of the animals and know when she’s going to be able to get the behavior she wants to capture.

I chose them because I really enjoyed their pictures and they have quite a variety of pictures. I like the way they use contrast in their pictures because I myself like to add a bit of contrast in my pictures. Also they are photography educators which is pretty interesting.

Interview Prep– Why do you want to be a photographer?
• I want to be a photographer because I want to capture all those moments that people don’t see on a everyday life basis.
– Explain to us what you know and why you are interested in this specific type of photography.• All I know about nature photography is that you need to take picture of nature not just plant and flowers but also animals and scenery.
I'm interested in this type of career because I just love nature and I like to capture those unexpected moments.
– What makes you stand out as a photographer among your peers?• What makes me standout is that I like to capture moments that people never think of, or really pay attention to in nature so I can show
them how amazing and interesting nature can be.
– What important trends do you see in the photographic industry?• Photographers are always in demand because they can always take a picture of anything interesting
– Tell us some of your weaknesses. • Some of my weaknesses are that sometimes I don’t know which angles work best.
So far I have been some what successful I have taken some good pictures but I have also taken some bad ones.
– How important is technology in your field? How do you plan to implement it?• Technology is not that important because all you really need is a good camera to capture the perfect moment.
– What are your long-range goals?• My long range goals are get a good job and become a better photographer than I already am.
– How successful have you been so far?• So far I have been some what successful I have taken some good pictures but I have also taken some bad ones.
