Was Varanasi violence a pre-planned political

move before the upcoming Bihar elections?

On Monday evening, over a dozen vehicles including police jeeps and a

few shops were torched in the clashes between the police and the

protesters during the Anyay Pratikar Yatra organised by sadhus in

Varanasi’s Godaulia area. Nearly 50 people were injured and curfew was

imposed in Laksa, Chowk, Dashashwamedha and City Kotwali, which was

lifted later at night.

So whose fault do you think it was? While the holy city was set on fire,police said that the violence that rocked Varanasi was pre-planned, and

they have evidence for it.

Bihar elections are just around the corner and the political parties are actively

blaming each other and accusing each other for something or the other. The police

are quite sure about the arson that hit the city to be pre-planned. SSP Akash

Kulhari said that the police have evidence to say that the violence was pre-planned,

adding that who or what instigated them is being investigated.

Meanwhile, if media reports are to be believed, Swami Avimukteshwaranand, who

was leading the protests, said that his supporters are not behind the violence. He

added that his people hadn’t even reached the spot when the trouble began, and

the cause of violence will become clear only after an enquiry.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi andGujarat Chief Minister of being silent

Swami Avimukteshwaranand said that they cannot expect anything

from the PM as even the chief minister, who knew about the entire

situation did not utter a word.

He said that the leaders have not time for people – be it the CM or PM,

adding that this kind of democracy is proving to be more dangerous

than dictatorship.

First Dadri and now Varanasi, why aren’t you speaking up, Mr Prime Minister? 

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh questioned PM’s silence over the violent

incident in Varanasi. He said that Prime Minister is always tweeting on everything,

so why is he silent over this issue, even though Varanasi is his constituency.

Mr Narendra Modi, you are the Prime Minister, don’t you think a word on the

incident won’t harm you. Or, are you too concerned about the upcoming elections in

Bihar? Well, only time will tell whether the unrest in Varanasi was actually a pre-

planned move or not. But, one thing is for sure that the political parties in our

country will have to rise up a little over this minimal things and unite to make India

a better place to live in.
